    Default When sportsbooks make mistakes

This morning I got the Utah Jazz at -110.
The book voided my bet 30 mins later.
Do you think they should have to eat the cost when they make an error?
    Voiding my bet seems unfair.
It's like if I bought an item at a store, and after they came out to the parking lot and took it away from me.

The line shouldve been Utah -820, although after they corrected the line they made it -1000.
I got Utah at -100, before they voided my bet.

Do I have a reasonable complaint here?

i assume your were betting a ML, i don't see how you could of got it at -110 or why a book would offer it, thats basically a pick and the spread is over 8.
i assume there lines was messed up or i'm not following what you mean.

Yes they had Utah -110 on the moneyline. They said they made an error. But I bet Utah at -110 before they caught the error.

I think they should have to honor mistakes. When we make a mistake, they gladly let it stand.

I don't feel you have a real good case here IMO. That was bad line/mistake.

    I agree...

Pro-line run by the OLGC honors their mistakes.

Again the same old story. The player has to be held responsible for the book's inability to run a business. Robzilla, close your account and move elsewere. That will teach them to take their head out of their ass.

Virtually every shop out there addresses the "bad line" issue in their rules. Here are a few examples from some top-rated books:

    BETJAMAICA
    From: http://www.betjm.com/asi/WPHRules.asp
BetJamaica reserves the right to refuse or limit any wager. This may include, but not limited to past posted plays, obvious line errors, or exceeded bet limit amounts.

    WSEX
    From: http://www.wsex.com/about/wse_rules.html
When a line is posted in obvious error due to a typographical mistake by the book, any customer wagers entered to take advantage of the error will be cancelled. Note: “Obvious errors” include cases in which the wrong team is posted as the favorite or in which the number posted for a point spread, total, or money line differs significantly from the correct figure.

    PINNACLE
    From: http://www.pinnaclesports.com/Rules
Pinnacle Sports reserves the right to cancel any wager made on an obviously "bad" line or a wager made after an event has started.

Every A+ rated book out there would cancel this wager (as would every other book). He has no ground to stand on at all.

However every book in Nevada would honor it if you had a ticket written Jazz -110 MLB. They take responsibility for their mistakes unlike any online shop. I think the only defense the online shops have is they don't have a physical manager to approve big bets. So more go through before they have a chance to correct the mistake.

No way can you expect to get a 12 point fav at a Pick (-110) price. You took a shot and got caught. The bad line rule comes into play here. Some Books boot players that jump on lines that are obviously wrong.

If you got it at -100 and it should have been -1000 your a jerk for betting it. Now if you bet it at -820 and they canceled it saying it should have been -1000 I think they should honour it.

Remember your fault is your fault, the bookies fault is not their fault.

Booking over a counter is a different animal than people booking themselves online. If LV ever went online my guess is they would be worse than some of the "regulated" UK books, which may be worse than the island books.
