What makes you say the total is off? UMASS is 3rd in the country in possessions per game, URI 27th. This could easily be a game with 80+ possessions, meaning if both teams shoot a reasonable %, this game could sail over with ease. Prior meetings are of little significance because UMASS, in particular, with players like Lasme and Freeman anchoring the defense, wasn't playing at a similar pace in prior seasons. I'd look no further than last week's UMASS/Duquesne game for an indication of how tonight's game could play out.
