Yep. I remember that series, and I barely watch baseball. That year my roommate at the time was a huge Yankees fan. I happened to sit in the living room with him for game 4. He was actually rooting for the Red Sox! He felt sorry for them. Plus, he wanted to see the series extended a couple games so he could watch his beloved Yankees a couple more times. Then game 5 came, and we watched that, him becoming increasingly irritated. By game 6, he wouldn't even watch anymore. lmao. I will never forget watching the guy just emotionally crumble over the course of that week.
As for the Patriots, I think they can blame themselves. I think they became so tied up with Brady & Moss getting those NFL records during the regular season, that they ignored developing the running game later in the season. It didn't really hit them until the Super Bowl, but I don't think they had enough experience with the running game to diagnose and deal with how the Giants were shutting down the running game. Believe it or not, the Giants were forcing them to pass, and made the Pats one dimensional! Genius, and it worked.
