Default uh oh Roger, McNamee turned over physical evidence

    http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10623863
EW YORK -- Brian McNamee has turned over physical evidence that Roger Clemens' former trainer believes will show the seven-time Cy Young Award winner used performance-enhancing drugs, McNamee's attorneys told the New York Daily News.

In the report, an anonymous source close to McNamee said the former trainer gave the Justice Department's BALCO investigators vials with traces of steroids and growth hormone, as well as bloodstained syringes and gauze pads.

McNamee's attorneys told the newspaper he has turned over the evidence to federal investigators but did not provide details of the evidence.

"This is evidence the government has that we believe will corroborate Brian in every significant way," one of McNamee's lawyers, Earl Ward, said in an article posted on the newspaper's website Tuesday.

McNamee told former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell he injected Clemens with performance-enhancing drugs at least 16 times in 1998, 2000 and 2001. Clemens has vehemently denied ever using performance-enhancing drugs.

McNamee is scheduled to be interviewed by House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform lawyers Thursday in preparation for next week's congressional hearing following up on the Mitchell Report on doping in baseball.

The newspaper reported Justice Department officials have sent the evidence to a lab for testing. If the materials prove to contain traces of drugs and blood, prosecutors may attempt to get a court order for a DNA sample from Clemens.

"We will provide Congress with corroborative physical evidence that takes this case out of the he-said, she-said purview," another McNamee lawyer, Richard Emery, told the Daily News. "From our point of view, this corroborates that Brian told the truth from Day One and Clemens has not."

McNamee kept syringes, gauze pads and vials from the 2000 and 2001 seasons because he feared Clemens would deny illicit drug use if the matter was ever investigated, according to the anonymous source cited by the newspaper.

This trainer must have envisioned this happening. Why else would he have saved this stuff? He is one smart cookie.

If Roger Clemens is black then I'm the Dalai Lama.

I love the timing. The very day Roger crosses the threshold of no return and speaks under oath. Seppoku seems to be the best choice at this point.

sarcasm. i read a lot of people talking about how bonds was fucked with simply because he was black. i was figuring clemens must have the same problem. then again, maybe has something to do with the use of steroids.

bet at least 85% of the players in the mlb has done are will do steroids/hgh in their career...they love the needle

Who keeps needles with blood and steroids on it? on top of that what if it was a syrienge that they used for the B12 that had his blood on it and they added the steroids last week.....these will not be enough to get him in the clink..... I do think that Clemmons did it, but this just seems a little weird that he kept the "evidence"......

its like keeping a receipt...if i was mcnamee i wouldve did the same...everybody is a shark in professional sports and mcnamee probably did this to keep his name clean if something like this did come up

question: why did bonds get so much hate and negative publicity for so long, while you hear a little about Roger, but nothing close to what bonds has had to endure.

I am curious. What is to stop McNamee from placing some of roger's blood in a vial that had a trace amount of drugs? The drugs by themselves would prove nothing except that McNamee has some illegal drugs he should not have. Both sides are fighting dirty now so it would not be too much to consider this happening.

who knows...i think baseball is just trying to clean up their image as cheating performance drug users and get as much integrity they can back into the game...maybe frying a couple big fish might prove a point for players in the game today and the future pro ballers?

Bonds was the face of this whole thing, plus he made the most dramtic phyisical change.....on top of that he is a complete ass and now holds one of the most valued records in all of sports........among others..........Bonds deal went on for a long time which made is easy for media to take shots at him, we just found about the clemmons thing a month or so ago so it is still fresh and he will take his when the facts of the case are revealed.....

By the way what the hell is the government doing getting in on the whole spygate thing........Im pretty sure this country has a lot bigger fish to fry than trying to go after a professional sports team who possibly cheated.......What can the government do to them even if they found out they were cheating.

    Default Question

Human growth hormone is not a drug. So, why do these reporters always use the term "performance enhancing drug" when referring to HGH.

Also, these reporters say that HGH use is not a "valid" medical procedure. Only according to the AMA and the FDA which are two of the most corrupt organizations on the planet. They both get their marching orders from the drug companies. If HGH could be patented I guarantee you that there would be TV commercials from drug companies touting its miracles day and night.

HGH is a perfectly valid medical treatment in lots of healing modalities which have not been corrupted by the AMA and FDA.

I think that the sports professionals who took HGH when it was not illegal to do so, hell for a long time it wasn't even against the rules of the the major sports leagues to do so, should just say to these hypocritcal Congressional committees "sure, I used it, so what, wasn't illegal, wasn't breaking any rules...now go away you bother me, don't you have some interns to molest?"

I totally agree. The economy is in shambles. You have to mortgage your home(if you have not lost it yet) just to pay for gas and food. Our rights as US citizens are being taken away by an imbecile. 95% of the world hates us including our allies. We are basically at war in 2 countries. A US citizen would be killed on sight in half the world. But hey, let's waste millions of dollars on sports cheating cause maybe that will take people's attention away from the ills of the world. What a joke.

HGH is a schedule V drug and probably 99% of the baseball players have no reason to be taking it other than performance enhancment

The pictures of him from the Pirates to present day are the most damning. I didn't know that men had growth spurts like that in their 30s.

Repair would be the main reason. Androgenic Anabolic steroids don't strengthen ligaments. HGH does. It repairs damaged tissue- cartilage, ligaments, etc. Taking hgh would be extremely beneficial to a pitcher over the course of a season which is why a 40 yr old like Clemons could continue to pitch at such a high level.

So let's see if we can recap some of this Clemens/PED's in baseball mess. We have a lot of people here who are apparently fine with someone they think of as a friend holding on to evidence so that they can screw their 'friend' in the future when the cops have them back into a corner. So let's put a little check mark in the box for "We respect stoolies."

I really shouldn't be surprised by this, I guess, since we just had a thread a short while ago about people having friends asking them to book a bet for them in Vegas, but not really making the bet and not telling their 'friend' they didn't make the bet while simply holding onto the money themselves. So let's put another check mark in the box next to "It's acceptable to not be honest with our friends."

    Does that about cover it?

You're on a board with gamblers. So I don't know why it's surprising. In General, gamblers are unhappy, drink and smoke too much, and are overweight. So seeing the things they do to so called "friends" is not one bit surprising to me.

Hence the "I really shouldn't be surprised by this" comment. Guess I just never will get used to the hypocrisy of players crying when a book stiffs them then cheering when one individual stiffs another. But hey, that's just me.
