Question How many jobs have you been fired from?

I saw a girl at work today get sh1t canned. They had to escort her out of the building. Felt a little bad, she was balling like a baby.

Made me reflect on my own employment history, the early years so to speak. I was never fired.....I would sort of fire myself. You know, just not show up anymore. No two weeks notice.....nada, zip.

Which type are you? The guy that stays until being escorted out or the quitting type?

I was fired from Culligan water when I was 17 for "joyriding" an old GMC van with my friends. I ended up with a $750 fine and 1 year of unsupervised probation for it.

Got laid off twice by the same company and had a contract tech writing job come to a screeching halt when the project itself was canned. Have come to a couple of 'mutual separations,' like you're suggesting I believe. But I've never been fired and fortunately never had to to fire anyone (also have a perfect record as a Little League umpire and have never ejected anyone, proud of that).

It was much harder though to tell someone they were being let go and to have to make a decision like that when they come tell you to pare your department salary by 15%-25% than it was to be told that I was the one being pared from the parking lot.

Me too, JJ. I'd come nearer believing that you were framed on all eight than just being framed on seven on 'em.

Yeah, I never really thought about it until this thread, but I've never been fired either.....Have walked out of a job mid-day though. One of the co-workers was a real A hole and I just thought "F*** this".....

When you have multiple alter egos you are more likely to be fired multiple times. Aristotle never lies.

In Costa Rica it is actually a good thing to get fired ... You get more money back then simply walking away from the job ... If a company should fire you ... there is a whole process that must be done and at the end you get more $$ for getting the F word than just stepping away.

When I was younger I would tell them to blow me at the drop of a hat.Now that I'm older.and have a really great job I've learned to bite my tongue. For a guy with no college education to have this job,I would probably jump off a bridge.25 more years I can retire.

Quit twice, fired twice. Quit the first day once. Fired the second day once. Fired 11th day once.

Never been fired, have quit lots of Jobs. At one point about 15 years ago, I went through 4 jobs in 6 months. At least each new job offered better wages/benefits or something. Now that I"m self employed I'm trying to fire myself.

Only one that I can remember. The lowest paying job I have ever had (a temp job in college), and I got fired after my first week. There was this really sexy manager showing me the ropes, and I still to this day can't determine whether I got fired for checking her out too much or not picking up the job fast enough...

I have never been fired so that must suck. They usuallu only fire people for f'ing up.

I had to fire a guy last year. We sent him to Japan for a month and he ended up in the hospital. We were all feeling bad for him until we found out he had a dissended colon from going to a japanese S&M club and putting it on the corporate slush fund.

I got fired once. My friend and I got jobs at this meat place and we had to cold-call people and try and sell them a half a cow. We were not very successful, so the manager calls us into his office and says, "Ladies, I hate to do this, but I'm going to have to let you go."

I had just turned 16 and my response was"

    "Go where?"

Quit a few though after a short period of time.

Nursing home kitchen - Quit after 1 day. Fukk that kitchen shit.

Golf course maintenance - Oh shit, allergic to poison ivy and had to get up at 5AM everyday. Quit after 1 week.

Amvets Call Center - Call old person, ask for his junk. Repeat.
2 hours into my first day - Told the supervisor I was going on break..... It's 3 months later and I still haven't returned from that break.

You have to have a job in order to be fired from one.

Six or seven times. Mostly while I was in my twenties. Once I figured out it was better to be fired than quit because of the unemployment laws I became professional at it. I've also survived a plant closure and layoff due to general business slowdown.Always landed on my feet!

Been fired once, quit a bunch of times...

    1. Fired from Sears. Bookie in lawn and garden got busted and narc'd on everyone who bet with him. I got narc'd out over a 10 dollar pick em pool little did i know the other guys were laying 500 a game and stealing from the store to pay the bookie...

2nd time I got laid off from a asphault crew at 17. I waited 3 months and called for unemployment, the lady handling my case approved me then quit, and I got lost. 3 months after that I got a check for 6 months of unemployment at age 17 while still going to HS... I was actually working another job by then, but auditing never caught it so not my problem.

    3. I was a waiter at lonestar in college for a month. I decided waiting sucked because they let me go first and I really never made money other than 50.00 a night, not good cash if you ask me. So after getting in really good with all the asst managers I was like I'm going to have to quit. But I partied with them all from my new job. (aka party = bang every asst manager which was female for about the next 6 months).

I got a temp job at a my current employer 300 full time employees got fired and me the temp stayed on for an additional 6 months. Because I asked to stay on, I would only work when needed, turned out they fired too many people and had work backing up but they couldn't rehire anyone till the next quarter, so I was in a win win

I should have been fired at age 15 from the local skating place or roller rink. I was taking all these chicks home in my car and basically grass/cash or ass for rides home. Its amazing what chicks will do not to have there parents pick them up from a night out.

When I was 18 I got canned from the US Postal Service. It was a summer position that filled in for the carriers on vacation. Anyway, the Post Master caught me a few times not sticking the metal thing behind the rear wheel and other infractions. In the middle of August I somehow lost the master key for the big blue mail deposit boxes in the area. I remember swinging it on my finger and it flew off. I couldn;t find it. They had to call in the postal inspectors to change the locks on all of the boxes. He told me he couldn't "afford" me. I only had 1 week left so it wasn't a big deal.
In 2000 I got canned from a telecommunication sales position since I got caught gambling at work. Now that is funny. It all worked out for the best. Next job I've been at for 7 years and met my wife there.

Knock on wood I have never been fired from a job. Unfortunately I have had to let people go and that sucks. Always bummed me out and lost many of sleepless nights dreading having to do it.

I was escorted out twice in my lifetime. That was a bit laughable. They wouldn't let me leave without handing in my ID.
