Default Matchbook charging $9 for regular mail withdrawals now?

I can understand paying a fee if you want to receive your money in a couple of days...but this is a bad move on matchbook's part...their claim to fame since I started playing with them several years ago has always been having a free withdrawal method...anyone with any thoughts on this?...

given what most banks charge to use an atm, it's understandable.

i only withdraw from offshore twice a year, so it doesn't really sound unreasonable to me

This stinks but it aint the stamp we are paying for. Its the terrible process of getting money to/from US players. Uncle Sam is making it very hard. My gut tells me that it is only going to get harder in the future.

Any else get the email from Bodog (right before the superbowl) that one of their most efficient methods of depositing went south?

I believe you are correct statguy in regards to their reasoning for the $9 fee...

I guess we just have to chalk it up as "just part of doing business"?

I would chalk it up to the cost of doing business, but when you have books like BetJamaica & Legendz that can afford to send you a free FedEx every 30 days, I don't think it is too much to ask a top rated book to offer some kind of free withdrawal.

I hope this does not work for Matchbook. I don't want to see other places start doing the same thing.

    for all you cheapasses:

Interbook Transfer allow you to send funds to and from other sportsbooks. Funds are transferred almost instantly, and Matchbook charges no fee for this service.

Only withdraw once or twice per year???? Must be nice to have that kind of money so that you feel comfortable risking being robbed for so much, me when I get 3k in a book Im ready to cash out for two reasons, 1. I need the cash, 2. I don't want to have any more than 3k in any book, the world of online sports gambling is prone to huge shocks and I wouldn't want one to cost me more than 3k or else I'd punch my fukin wall, biggest shock of my life was when Neteller collapsed hell I was depositing/paying out at least 6k/week consistently through Neteller and I'm a cheapskate (albeit sportsbetting addicted cheapskate) 100/200 bettor so no telling what the sharps were sending through them, but certainly one would expect billions

KC in response yea it does but here's the thing, Matchbook pays absolutely nothing now except for some pointless minimal customer service for their all internet site. When did the cost of write a winning player a check and dropping it in the mail become "OUR COST OF DOING BUSINESS", I think the 2% I pay everytime I win a bet oughta amount to enough to cover a stamp and an envelope when I want to cashout, and fukin 9 DOLLARS, I mean come the fuk on that's some BS if you are gonna charge people to mail them a check regular mail let's at least not try to make a freaking profit from it. Hell next thing you know they won't even do the commission credit reimbursement they'll just charge me 5% everytime I fukin deposit and you all will reply well that's just the cost of doing business for ya WELL **** THAT SHIT THIS IS BS, last time I checked Matchbook was charging for their service just like every other site so at least give us one free regular mail w/d per calendar month or something guys.

Highly doubt they're making a profit on it. If you think the cost of mailing you a check is <$9 you're mistaken. You're forgetting there are processors and other entities involved in the process.

Bet Jamaica charges $5 for regular mail on withdrawals, but Matchbook has the better juice though and they charge $9. I think it evens out.

Any investment you make with any institution is subject to risk. Even FDIC insurance savings accounts are only as good as the US gov't ability to back them. Gov'ts have failed before and will fail again.

I play at top rated books and I transfer between them for free, it's spreads any risk (which I believe is extremely minimal) around.

As for $9 for checks. It costs me $3-4 to send a postcard to the US. Matchbooks processing costs are most certainly more than $9.

You say you withdrawal when you got to 3k, so you are paying $9 for $3,000. But, you probably pay $2.50 to get $40 out of an ATM everyday.

  28. #28

It's sad to see, but yes this $9 must be seen in combination with Matchbook's entire deal compared with the entire deals of other books.

But whether Matchbook "has to" charge this fee because of high processing costs, or just "wants to" because they can (there's actually no difference), unfortunately the reason they can get away with it/are able to do it/are not forced to find another solution, is ENTIRELY due to the UIGEA. So the blame really unfortunately rests with anyone who voted for the whole Frist/Bush/Goodlatte/Ashcroft side of politics. And if you voted for any of them or anyone like that, that's you!

They also went up on the FedEx checks from $30 to $39.

  30. #30

    Default

Also, WSEX went up to $50 by FedEx and $15 by regular mail (however they offer 1 free withdrawal every month by regular mail).

Also, Greek is now charging $10 per regular mail check. Their Fedex/DHL fees are $35. I'm not sure if this is what it was before or not.

Bookmaker was already gouging customers with fees.

However how much can we complain about it with the BS the books have to go through to get us our checks? If you ask me the costs are probably going to continue to rise steadily unless something revolutionary happens to help the processing problems.

Wrong. I have received a few checks from Jamaica and they do not charge you anything unless you already had a previous withdrawal in the last 30 days.

Here is directly from their site:

    WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Withdrawal methods accounts are eligible for one free withdrawal per month - your choice of Transfer Neteller (non-US), FedEx or Cashiers Check. If the one free withdrawal is exceeded or the request is for less than $200 the fees will be as follows; Cashiers Check is $35, Bank Wires are $25 each and NETeller is $15..
