Default The sleeping Giants have awoken, I told you so SBR

This post is intended for all the idiots who have no clue about how good the Giants are and are about to me. "They have no offense, Lincecum sucks, blah blah blah".

Forgive me for being blunt, but you ignorant tards are currently being exposed for the fools that you are, and its only going to get worse. This is a scary team.

To be fair, the NL West is a circus this year. They are about to be 47-41 and 3 games or so out.... they should have first place taken over within about 6 weeks or so.

What does that have to do with the statement you were responding to?

    "best rotation in baseball"

a team era is not a rotation.

How does the Padres starting rotation compare to the Giants starting rotation?

    Go for it.

What you are going to see if a dominant starting pitcher taking the mound every night with a lineup that is coming to life in a huge way and opening some serious eyes.

We are one big bat away from being the best team in the National League. A Prince Fielder like kind of bat.

    If my calculations are correct:

    The Giants starting rotation
    Cain 121.1 IP 45 ER
    Lincecum 116.2 IP 41 ER
    Zito 115 IP 41 ER
    Sanchez 103.2 IP 40 ER
    Wellenmeyer 58.2 IP 36 ER

Totals 515.1 IP 210 ER for an ERA of 3.67

I included Wellenmeyer over Bumgarner because Wellenmeyer has made 11 starts and thrown almost 59 innings and Bumgarner has only made 3 starts and thrown only 22 innings.

If you substitute Bumgarner for Wellenmeyer, the numbers change slightly:
Totals 479.1 IP 181 ER for an ERA of 3.39.

    The Padres starting rotation
    Garland 108.2 IP 43 ER
    Richard 108 IP 36 ER
    Latos 106.2 IP 29 ER
    LeBlanc 92 IP 34 ER
    Correia 92 IP 54 ER

Totals 507.1 IP 196 ER for an ERA of 3.48

In reality, there really isn't much to choose from...but to say the Giants starting rotation is demonstrably better than the Padres is incorrect.

The Padres bullpen is better by any measure...but I'll let you run those numbers if you're interested...

Wellemeyer is not a part of the rotation anymore dumbass. Substitute Bumgarner in there and then come back and talk to us.

Look...I get that you're a Giants fan. I've got no problem with that. But leave the 7th grade name calling elsewhere, OK?

Wellemeyer is no Bumgarner, hes just a bum. The Giants rotation is miles far and away better than San Diegos and will be even more so in the second half.

The reality is the NL West will be a dog fight right down to the end...

Saw on Baseball Tonight this afternoon that the Dodgers play 30 consecutive games at one point in the second half of the season against teams with a winning record. It's not much better for any of the other NL West teams. All have pretty tough schedules in the second half.

And all three teams, four if you include Colorado, have question marks. It will be interesting to see who makes a move at/near the trade deadline...

i re-ran the numbers at your request and yes, with Bumgarner in the rotation, the Giants have been marginally better than the Padres.

Now, there is no way to predict that Bumgarner will be as effective when he's facing teams for a second or third time.

I'll say it one more time, there isn't much to chose from between but I wish you and your Giants the best in the second half...

I would love to see Sabean trade for Prince Fielder. That makes our lineup this:

    Torres/Rowand
    Sanchez
    Posey
    Fielder
    Huff
    Burrell
    Sandoval/Ishikawa
    Uribe/Renteria

    BEAST!!!!

If you consider 3.39 to 3.48 to be MILES FAR AND AWAY BETTER then be my guest...

But the reality is there isn't much to chose from between the two...
