how does scoring work in Rugby? is -16 a huge spread or is that like a touchdown?

Is Ireland a lock or do you bet them like I bet the Phillies?

Greek, Bodog and SIA all have lines up for the weekend's 6N games.

Joeyfitz,

I like Italy +17 (you can get 17.5 you lucky SOB). They have a very defense-oriented lineup and should dominate in the forwards, meaning poor quality ball for the Irish backs as well as little possession in the first place. Orquera, Italy's awful kicker in the past, is no longer in the side and Bortulussi will be taking the kicks. One of Italy's problems has long been converting territory and possession into points because of their poor goal kicking. This is less of a problem now. The Italians, as they always do, will slow the game down and try to put the Irish off their game. Also, the weather is forecast to be low 40s (Fahrenheit) with rain. This also suits the Italians and should help keep the game low scoring.

I also don't like Wales +13. I'm laying off this game, but if I can get England -12, I'll be on that. This Welsh team is basically the Ospreys and a couple more, which hardly inspires confidence against England at Twickenham. England has Wilkinson back to keep the scoreboard ticking over and even if he gets injured Cipriani is very impressive.

I like Scotland +5.5 (5.5 is easy to find, line shop!) at Murrayfield. The French are playing a very young team and although Trinh-Duc is pretty good, he is young and inexperienced. The Scots have a pretty good home field at Murrayfield and Edinburgh and Glasgow have been playing pretty well. The moneyline, which is +162 at SIA, is also a good play.

I think you're thinking of Aussie Rules. FSN was the one that used to show rugby.

Setanta sports shows a lot of rugby....Here is how scoring works.....5 points for a try(like a touch down) 2 points for the kick after..so seven points total.......3 points for a penalty kick which can happen anywhere on the field...kind of like a field goal.....If you are playing a bad team 17 is very easy to beat a team by....The highest scoring game I ever played in we won 102 to 7 but you will not really see this on the international level unless it is whoever playing the USA then the bet that USA will get beat by at least 20 is always a good one......The ball is always live so if you have a good team they can score, there are no turnover on downs etc so the score can be high on the other hand if you have two good tackling teams the score can be rather low......its hard to predict.....

I've layed England with a view to trade, at 1.24 they are far too short. New team and new coach had little time to gel verses the Ospreys which are the best Welsh team used to playing together week in week out.

My guess is, if the hair bears can hold the England pack then its a possible Welsh win , if not it could be carnage.

England are also looking a bit weak in the backs, and on form Henson could exploit that.

thanks for the update Jaime, I dont really pay attention to the international until it gets around world cup time...Cohesivness is a big part of this game, probably one of the most team reliant sports that you will have....for example when the barbarians play they always have the best players at each posistion but they struggle becaue they dont know where each other are going to be on the pitch.....

Drove to Boston last night to watch the game this morning with my brother. Everyone I ever met in my 19 years growing up in Ireland was at Croke Park today and I was so looking forward to this game.

I can honestly say, despite the win, that was THE worst game of rugby I have seen in my life. If Italy had a kicker they would have won this game. Very disappointing, if we play like this against the Brits we will get thrashed.

Wales, a 13 point underdog, wins outright and Ireland won but did not cover.

1-1 - $240

Scotland completely outclassed. I don't see who can stop the French this year, hopefully Ireland, but looks unlikely.

Scotland were awful today, never looked like even getting into the game.

They made France look great, and France are a young team.

If you want value back Wales for outright or lay France on an exchange for outright, the 3 Welsh subs made the difference yesterday, cant see Gatland going with 100% Ospreys again, Wales are very strong with the 2nd half team played yesterday.

France were terrible today, but Scots were dire.

England can resort to spoiling again and beat France

Wales from the 2nd half yesterday can beat France

Ireland can easily beat France if they play like Munster

France were rubbish today apart from 2 or 3 set pieces, Scotland were worse.

France 4 - 5

Wales 7 - 2

Ireland 9 - 2

England 6 - 1

Scotland 33 - 1

Italy 300 - 1

Yikes - how could you bet the French at odds on. I agree stick a few shillings on Wales or Ireland and hope the Brits can beat the Frogs to give us a chance.

I have layed France big for the outright, its the worst price, 1 game in, I have seen in 20 years. Total madness.

Don't know where you get that France were poor today. They dominated the game throughout and put Scotland off their game. They also are back to their natural running free-flowing game under Lievremont as opposed to the England style they played under Laporte. Trinh-duc impressed me today. He didn't do anything flashy, but he was solid the entire game and managed the game well. Dussatoir and Ouedraogo were also pretty impressive.

I said they dominated the Scots and impressed me this morning. I agree with you I just said the price (- 125) was ridiculous with four games each left.

I was referring to Jamie with that one. Agreed that -125 is pretty ridiculous.

Well the 1 st try was a forward pass and should not have been allowed if the linesman had been doing his job. They looked incredibly dodgy to forced mistakes if the Scots had been up to the job, their passing veered between excellence and rubbish, and the scrum technically weak.

First try didn't look like a forward pass to me. You must have been listening to the incredibly biased Andy Nicol. As for the scrum, it was weak in the first half but when the replacements came on they dominated. France is incredibly deep and this was their first game under Lievremont. They are only going to get better.
