Recruiting for a Fantasy Baseball League . . .

What's up fellas, Im going to be starting a fantasy baseball league for this upcoming season. Im looking for serious players from the forum, who will not quit because it is a very long season, and noone is ever out of it. Im looking into CBS and ESPN right now, and comparing which would be a better choice. Will probaly end up being a small entry fee $30-50, that the site will hold. CBS charges way to much because the entry free is $30 and the winner only gets $150. With 12 teams they are taking way too much profit. Maybe we could get SBR to hold the money for us or something like that, Would like a Entry fee of $50 bucks with 12 teams putting $600 in the pot. . . $500 to the winner and $100 to 2nd place, just to keep it interesting. Looking for 11 guys from the forum preferably over 500 posts and some fantasy experience. Its going to be a live draft and the rest of the details will come later, when we get the league together. I have plenty of time to do some research to make the league has best I can. If anyone has any suggestions please post 'em. Ill keep a thread running for the league here under baseball forum, after the recruiting process is over containing recaps and league updates/standings. . .

why not start a league and have a trusted poster hold the money? I would rather have 100% of the money being paid out rather than have a cut go to some website

That's what I would rather have, but what we need 11 guys trusted to one guy to hold the money, I figured that would be hard to come buy. . .

just start a private league for free on yahoo, and get 12 of us, and set a price for each of us to chip in, we could Pm or e-mail each other the details about the money, like who holds it or we could do an honor system where you pay the winner at the end, if someone didn't pay i'm sure we would all give em' hell.
I'll only play if its a head-to-head weekly and 1 catcher, 1B,2B, 3B, SS, 3 OF's, 2 utility spots, 4-5 SP's, and 2-3 RP's and 3-4 bench spots. i don't like leagues that have 2-3 C's, multiple infield spots, a buttload of OF's and a buttload of pitching spots.
i also like head-to-head weekly, not a running season stats, cause all that takes is one person to have a few players get hot and then no one can catch them throughout the season.

Its def going to be head to head , the lineups will be like a real MLB team. . .

C, 1B , 2B, 3B, SS , 3 OF's, 5SP, 1-3 RP, and a few bench spots . . . Yahoo does sound nice. . .

Entry Fee is going to be around $50 and Im looking into transactions fees to bulid up the pot over the year depending on how we decide to do the money , which could be given to different teams for different reasons, such as to the team who has the player with the most total points or something like that. . . Again the details will be worked out after I get everyone's opinions on what they want out of the league . . . as of now the first step is just gettin the 12 guys together. . .

Yeah there will be atleast 1 utility spot, The site is set up for fantasy baseball yet, so Ill have all that set in a few days, when yahoo open it up for play. . .

NOPE! Thats why I told L'kid that I wasnt sure bc I said I would get in a league with you and im also getting in a league with some buddies from back home. So thats 2 leagues i plan on doing, are you going to run the league cee?

Yeah, Bases is right around the corner so i'll hafta get something set up quick. We still need some guys as well.

I'll hafta start asking around. I wish Louisville was doing more $$$ for his league so we could have just combined leagues and we'd have 12 easy.

i've been in yahoo leagues for years, thats why i suggested it, plus i know you can set up a free league to be used and still set a password for only players invited. i've only played in CBS and ESPN in few times, and i thought if you wanted a private league in them you had to pay for it, but i'm not sure cause i've only played in the free ones with open invites.

What is points league? I am open to pretty much anything just curious what that is. The league im in every year with buddies from back home is like 10 or so stats, avg, hr, rbi..... etc. And you get 1 point per category that you win. Is that what you meant my points league?

i hate catagory leagues more than i hate ass herpes. points leagues mean you get points based on how each player does.

hit = 1 point
2b = 2 points
3b = 3 points
sb = 2 points
cs = -1 point
rbi = 1 point
run = 1 point

win = 10 point
save = 10 points
k = 1 point
out = 1 point
ha = -1 point
run allowed = -1 point
walk = -1 point

things like that. its amazing.

the one thing I will say is give no rights to 5star to make league changes.
