Do you have any stats to back up your assertion? What was the line on the Pats on their previous trips to the Superbowl?

    2004/05 Pats -7 v Eagles W 24-21
    2003/04 Pats -7 v Panthers W 32-29
    2001/02 Pats +14 v Rams W 20-17

    You have a point...

Then again the Pats were never 18-0 going into any of those Superbowls either.

So they failed to cover when they were the favorite and won when they were the dog. Thanks. That's good enough for me.

What point is that? That they didn't cover in 2 previous games is hardly significant at all. In fact, it's probably an exception as the Super Bowl winner has won by 14+ pts in 21 out of the 41 games. So, super bowls tend to be blowouts. 41 games isn't a very large sample size either, but it sure beats 2.

While both teams have solid defenses, the Giants seem to base their offensive plays on making sure Eli doesn't lose it for them while the Pats play to win. I think they will cover in this one.

Maybe the fact that NEP has not covered the spread in it's last 5 contests is of more importance if you like to bet on trends.

Perhaps you'd like to look at an ATS record of 2-8 since November.

These kinds of recent trends lead me to believe that the general public tends to think the Patriots are better than they in fact are.

I actually think it's just the opposite: NE's recent ATS woes actually have them undervalued here, as the proper spread should be -14 or maybe even -14.5. Remember, they are sill rated about 15 points higher than the Giants on the LVSC Power Ratings.

According to the sites that release those stats, sportsinsights, wagerline, carib, sportsbook.omc -- the giants are getting over 60% of the bets

as of right now, however many books sportsbookspy monitors has a total of 57,515 bets, with NYG at 67% and NE at 33% of the bets, now of course i/we don't know the size of those bets going each way.
