In my research on Obama, I have found some facts that I find unsettling.

Many flock to Memphis, Atlanta, Jackson, Birmingham, New Orleans, and Atlanta so if you eat in the city areas there that would probably be like what you are describing.

I believe that grand attempts are made at separation of church and state and if a person has no real allegence to a church or denomination, then perhaps the leanings of such would not cloud their judgement on governmental issues. However, if a person has a strong and longtime commitment to a certain religion, then likely their thinking is similar to the doctrine of that religion and thusly might interfere with their judgement. Mind you, I said "might." Voting for someone to me is all about what risks you're willing to take and what bad your willing to take with the little good that might come out of it. I'm not usually a pessimist, actually quite the opposite in most cases (i.e. I thought the Steelers could beat NE), but when it comes to politics, it's not really pessimism as much as it is reality.

Anyway, here's some of what has me "unsettled" as far as Obama is concerned:

What that church is about is almost as frightening as the Muslim aspect of his parentage. Highlights include:

- We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black
- roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.
- We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.


Also, the congregation there has what they call a "10-point vision." I like No. 4 the best (insert sarcasm):

4. A congregation with a non-negotiable COMMITMENT TO AFRICA. (the All-caps was that way on the Web site.)


Anyway, it all sounds a wee prejudice to me and I think I'd rather the President of the US have a non-negotiable commitment to the US.
