    Default Bet-against-the-Lakers angle

The Lakers may be worth a close look for the next couple games. Kobe has the public's attention and a winning record but I'm looking for some tough losses.

    Kobe '06 vs. Jordan '87
How does Kobe's 2006 season compare to Michael Jordan's 1987, when MJ scored his career-high 37.1 points per game?

    Category Bryant Jordan
    Age 28 24
    Points 35.9 37.1
    Minutes 40.5 40.0
    FGA 27.74 24.79
    FG pct. 45.2 48.2
    3PTA 5.4 0.8
    3PT pct. 34.6 18.2
    FTA 10.7 11.9
    TS pct.* 55.4 56.2
    Rebounds 5.6 5.2
    Assists 4.3 4.6
    Team W pct. .537 .488

TS pct.= true shooting percentage (what a player's shooting percentage would be if we accounted for free throws and 3-pointers)

Kobe will try to keep his hot hand going no matter what Phil says and you can't win that way. You know hes eyeballing Jordan's best stats season.

I'm calling it right now. LA misses the playoffs. Lamar traded in the offseason for a Dennis Rodman/Ben Wallace wannabe.

I think they'll hit the 8th seed maybe 7th at best......Phil needs to realize that he cant change odom...he'll always be a 15ppg 10rebound guy. Plus he's too unpredictable not consistant. No one else can score besides Kobe...Kwame has shown improvement in the Defensive side...but horrible in the offensive side. As long as the Lakers keep improving in the Defensive side they'll have a great chance to make the playoffs.

i don't think the lakers will make the playoffs this year.

once kobe cools off, his teamates will not be able to pick up the slack. then the team termoil will kick in again, then the lakers will go into the tank.

You say this as if Kobe is definitely going to cool off. There's nothing that leads me to believe that is the case.

Better hope he gets injured then, because his game is as tight as it has ever been and that doesn't just go away during the course of one season.

Plus he has no opitions on his team, so he will keep firing away. But I dont think they will make the playoffs. A one man team wont get it done night in and night out.

Bill, Nice stats break down on 87 MJ and 05/06 Kobe.

Tom Leykis was talking about this same thing on his radio program yesterday...also thinks Kobe will start getting the endorsements again (I agree)...

I don't think Kobe cools down all that much. Can they make the playoffs? It doesn't help that Sacramento brings in Artest.

Kobe idolizes Jordan. I know that from the guys at Venice Beach. And
you can see it. He walks, talks, and plays just like em`.. He is obsessed
with Jordan believe me on that on. He has stats on his mind and Jordans
stats. Us here in L.A we know that. I'm sure alot of you know that, obviously
Bill Dozer knows. But Kobe and Jordan is almost a mirror image. Same game.

Also If Miami Loses I will not Post anymore til FEB 4th- Oh you can
read that on my sig.. GL everyone!!

I agree that Kobe is trying to clone Jordan. If the guy didn't have a hackysack for a head he would shave it bald like Mike. When they won their first championship I recall Kobe pumping his fist standing on the scorers table wth the ball just like MJ did as if he had practiced it. He probably hoped they would make a trading card with the two players side by side. You guys remember that? Obvious to anyone else?

IMO Kobe doesn't have half the heart on the court. If you watched the Pistons series or Kings series couple years before you probably agree that his name can never be up there with Jordans. I don't care if he averages 81.

Kobe has the same game,One thing Jordan has that towers over Kobe is
the fact that Kobe is sloppy at times,Jordan was always smooth almost
99% in rhythm. Kobe gets sloppy really sloppy. He will attempt shots
that are impossible and he will shoot 3 airballs in succession sometimes.
