I laughed all the way through the Bill Walters segment on 60 minutes. Gotta give him credit though for making it look good ..LoooooL

Guys..Almost all of Bill Walters stories were true, the money amounts were actually downplayed. What was left out was what was so funny.

The late 70's and 80's were tough times for all of us gamblers. Bill didn't elaborate on those times, only the sucessful times. Oh well.....

    >>> It was just a puff, filler piece going into the football playoffs.

I agree---not a good piece plus it seemed like there was suppose
to be more about Wall Street/stock market.

He did mention a large sum of money and said + 10%. So probably head on.

Guessing this is the same right from cbs's page.. with a few 'extra' clips that were not show on the show that night. Billy is a legend for sure.

    http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?...ted;photovideo

Here is just an extra clip when he talks about the 3.5 million dollar bet
    http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?...ted;photovideo

Here is a clip from that same guy saying if Vikings would have fired Chilly earlier they’d have made the playoffs.

I thought the same thing. They mentioned that BW is usually very reclusive/private, and only agreed to do the interview so he could expose the greed/scam that is Wall Street....then they proceeded to give that topic a fleeting 30 seconds at the end of the segment.

As others have said, BW is just a talented dispatcher/ringleader. He's not making the plays, his handicappers are, then his talent is in getting the bets down, which one could argue is the most important cog in the machine these days. Hell, we'd all be rich on RAS totals if the books put totals up and we could bet them without getting limited/delayed. Also, I agree that they only talked about Vegas to cover his ass. I think we all know that he is pounding the crap out of offshores and locals as well.

I've got my own BW story, but I'm sure as hell not sharing it here. I've seen him take a local for 140k over the course of a football season, all through a 'mule' that the local never even suspected was BW.

Some of you guys crack me up!

You seem like you were disappointed in the show- Why? Because he didnt walk you all through a 10 step secret super system program that he uses to make millions of dollars on national TV?

Dont you guys know who 60 minutes target audience is?? Ya its not us SBR forum members.

99% of America that viewed the program probably never heard of him and never thought anyone can be that successful at gambling and probably learned a few things from the show so ya I think 60 minutes did their job.

I thought it was a good piece and maybe will even put to sleep a few redundant threads around here titled "Can you make a living gambling?", "Can you make 6 figures a year" "Why is line shopping so important?" "What should I do if books limit me?" "Nobody can beat the books! Its impossible!!!"

Well ok- "hopefully" put some of those a sleep.

if he has all this money why does he bother trying to win more? i don't believe any of it. he probably goes for middles more often than not. like most gamblers he tends to be in denial when he loses, which he does.

I was getting ready to post some of the same thoughts..
Sixty Minutes have been doing "personality" pieces for years!!!
It's a 13 minute "glimpse" into the persons life.
Not some kind of "breaking news" story.

I thought Lara did a fine job. She didn't ask any stupid questions. Obviously to some here she did but as "sneak" said, this segment wasn't aimed at SBR users.

Adding: I just finished reading the entire thread. I'm trying to find the button that lets me take points away from some of the posters.

So after watching 60 minutes one of the oldest running shows on tv, you still question the credibility of what you just watched? I guess his jet and all his houses were fake and the bookmakers from the casinos were paid actors. LOL. too funny. What he does is a business and let me ask you this. would you close down a business that makes you millions a year?

that show was interesting i know for a fact from my friends that are pro poker players that he bets at least 15-20 mil a weekend. funny to see him downplay to a couple mil thats small potatoes for a guy like him

Was a pretty boring segment. Just gave a brief history of his life and how he moves the lines. Yawn.

Two articles in this morning's Las-Vegas Review Journal. In the first one by John Smith he seems to show great dissatisfaction that a lot of dirt wasn't uncovered--even though there is no dirt to uncover.

The second has to do to with the segment being a great ad for Las Vegas.

I love the line where the 60 minutes interviewer is like "so why did billy walters agree to an interview? to show that gambling isnt as shady as it once was". Then the show goes on to NOT detail any information on how less of a shady world it is. Other then the fact that one guy has made millions I guess... lol. I also laughed hard when 60 minutes previewed this story as Billy "opening his doors, and explaining how he makes money," etc. etc. When all it told us is that he has a "team". Like no shit, obv we knew that...

It was a decent info segment on Billy if you knew nothing about him but a few google searches reveal everything this segment said.

I guess this also puts to rest all those rumours that him and Phil Ivey bet huge on the Colts. Guess it either did not happen or it was simply to move the line lol.

Must be nice to have that kind of money.
