"Canadian" - The new "N" Word - An online directory of racial slurs defines Canadian as a "masked replacement" for black.

Now I am confused, am I Canadian or am I black? LOL!!

I've used Canadian, but just as a replacement for black, nothing derogatory. The world is so sensitive about politically correct terms I don't even know if I can call a black guy black, So he's a Canadian now.

When I want to go out on weekends at an african american night club I tell my friends I'm going for Canadian Club.

Why do these words have to be used at all? Why is it necessary to call out the race or color of someone when talking about them? You hear in the news media all the time expressions like "the black lawyer", "the black doctor"....but you never hear white people referred to by using their color.

When I talk about people I know I never mention their color or race.

Stop using these terms and the problem goes away completely.

Personally, I'm not sensitive about it at all, it was just something I've never heard of before today.

This will really get you. In Hartford, CT I would say that 95% of the IT workers are foreign workers from India who are in the United States under H-1 Visas, supposedly because the insurance companies in Hartford cannot find any Americans who have the skills to do those jobs. Many of these jobs, probably most, can be done with as little as six months training. Some might take 2 years training. I have worked with many of these people and most of them are not very skilled. So, here is the thing that gets me. The unemployment rate in Hartford is double digits. The unemployment rate among young African Americans is probably more like 20%. There are almost ZERO local African Americans in any of these jobs. So, instead of providing training for local Americans who need these jobs, Congress has made it possible for multi billion dollar companies to bring in cheap foreign workers. If this H-1 **** program was either abolished or the supposed requirements that they can only be used in extreme cases where Americans cannot be found who can do the work were actually enforced, at least in Hartford, thousands of Americans would be able to get jobs that they are now shut out of.

I live an hour and a half south of the Canadian border and used to go up there allot when the Canadian dollar was at 65 cents U.S.It was a fun weekend going to the race track,buying some stuff up there you can't get here like Cuban cigars etc.Going to see the shakers was fun too.That's strippers in american talk.hehe!By far the best strippers you will ever see are up there and one time in Winnipeg some magazine had a nude miss western Canada competition at a strip joint there.Hell,they were coming from as far as the Yukon and they took it all off bigtime.When comdediens that are famous from LA come into Winnipeg they hit the strip joints they are so good.

OK,off on a tangent here.In Canada the western provinces hate the French from Quebec because they want special rights,hate the liberal academic elitists that run the whole country and boss everyone else around from Toronto-Ottawa and make fun of the people from Newfoundland and call them Newfies and cosider them Jerry Springer Hillbillies sucking welfare off the tax payers..

Brent, I agree with most of your statements, however, the Newfie thing really is just for fun. Newfoundlanders for the most part are hardworking friendly and easy to get along with, I haven't (yet) met a Newfie I didn't like. I'm not alone in this belief.

I'm in the engineering consulting business. We have tried for 5 years to hire american engineers, black or white. We can only get H-1 **** engineers. If the H-1 program is abolished we will go out of business. Sad but true.

When you say engineering, you are talking about a hard science and not "computer software engineering", right? The jobs I am talking about are not engineering jobs, they are basic level computer jobs like testing, basic programming, etc. Stuff that can be taught in a six month course.

Structural Engineering. I'm pretty sure you can't get an H-1 **** if you don't have a Master's or Phd degree. I am the one who is reviewing all the paperwork for H-1 visas at my firm. I will doubt that a basic computer programming job qualifies as H-1 ****. In my profession you have to be a licensed professional engineer PE which is hard to get it.
