Default Blackjack Rule ?

Aren't you supposed to win automatically if you can take 5 cards?

That rule is called a Five Card Charlie.

It is extremely rare though. It lowers the house edge by a whopping 1.46%... something most casinos aren't going to do.

Las Vegas Club has a gimmick game with 6-card Charlie, but odds suck.

6-card charlie, player may double up to 4 cards, unsuited BJ pays 1-1, suited BJ pays 2-1

Spanish 21 is a version of blackjack that has a rule that fter you draw certain ammount of cards you paid at that point. Some casinos offer this game.
Marketing departments sometimes offer bonuses to the normal game of blackjack. For example a seven card charlie could be worth 50 dollars on Tuesdays between the hours of 12 to 8. Its a ploy to get people in on the slower days.
I've never seen or heard of a normal blackjack game with any multiple card bonus as part of its regular rules.

5-card (and 6-card) Charlies are a rare-exotic rule for BJ. Some carnival games (like Spanish 21 and "Super Fun 21" also have it. Most BJ games don't have it.

It's all gimmicks in the Harrah's era. Gimme the old Horseshoe with single decks, 3-2 BJ, mid deck entry, free packs of cigs.

All these gimmicks add to house edge.

too bad that someone does not offer odds on beating 7 card charlie of the dealer without 10s
btw... the picture below shows how casinos cheat for sure

This is funny, growing up we always had a 5 card rule in our family "home" games. I have never seen it since.
