Default BetUS owner escapes murder attempt

Details are sketchy but another BM in Costa Rica has said the BetUS owner was shot at but missed. Another BM on the Rx said he heard a body guard was wounded.

That sucks. Sounds like the Wild West out there, or at least inner city NY. Did those guys who pointed a gun at you all from SBR ever try anything again?

No. The guy behind that is no longer in the biz. We have much better security now.

Mainly I think every book knows we are going to treat them fairly. We are here just like they are. No other player site offices here and I think the books appreciate that.

Another reason to get an A rating

Any odds on the Sportsbook.com owner(s)?

is it related to a stiff job or was it just a bad neighborhood? i think most bookmakers have bodyguards there. they have to be pretty big marks b/c those guys don't exactly lay low.

Bodyguards wouldn't matter. Anyone with military experience could find a decent gat down there if they had proper funds and take that guy out.

Are you positive that they were shooting at Rizzo or was this just a random shooting in a bad neighborhood?

Here is an update on this story I found over on Sting's site on this matter.

Quote:
Online Gambling Operator Bludgeoned During Attempted Robbery

An owner of one of online gambling's largest enterprises was severely beaten and left for dead following an attempted robbery on Monday, Gambling911.com can now reveal. The attempted murder took place in San Pedro, Costa Rica, during the afternoon hours in broad daylight.

Details were still unraveling. The operator was planning on attending this week's ICE Internet gambling conference in London, England, along with other representatives from his firm.

Gambling911.com has been asked not to publish the victim's name out of respect for his family, many of whom have not yet been notified.

"He is not doing well," a source tells Gambling911.com.

The individual's Land Rover was reportedly fired upon by a gang of three people. His bodyguards engaged in a "shoot out" with the suspects.

A local Costa Rica news station covered the story.

In the past, Bodog's Calvin Ayre has been held up in broad daylight while with real estate agents shopping for new properties in Costa Rica. His bodyguard was shot in the shoulder. Also, a partner in now defunct MVP Sportsbook, had his SUV shot up while in ritzy Escazu.

Last Spring, a Gambling911.com Associated was beaten and robbed after entering a "pirate" cab. He suffered severe injuries to his leg and is due to undergo extensive surgery next month.

looks like they knew exactly who to target. With BetUS.com giving people a hard time when they try to withraw their earning, most of the time is a delay or nothing. Looks like this person wanted his or their money back and bad. Looks like the mafia a big timer got stiffed by BetUS.com. Costa Rica is not know for voilence especially this type of violence.

Could this just be a ploy, sort of like what Bodog did with their owner?

Much respect to those guys.. If you take money from a bet and you lose and u don't pay, You get whats coming to u. For some people it's reason enough that they will take your life. I for one feel the same way. i Know it sounds fuked up but thats how i think... Now i dont know to much about the sportsbook.com incident but i do know if i was really rich and i got screwed out of some money you better but your ass im looking to get my money back or take your life even if i do have to fly to costa rica or anywhere. Now if you dont have money to do this well at least you can hope that people like me will take the law into there own hands. Ya know if you people my money to sleep ill put your head to sleep. amen

Default You individuals make me laugh...........

This post simply made me laugh and I wish I responded when all of you little gossip girls started the rumor mill.

Do any of you know the truth?

Simply put they were trying to rob his car and had know idea who the hell they were dealing with. It could have been anybody.

Finally, someone has told the truth.

One last thing maybe some of you posters out there should take a little trip to CR, instead of acting like tough guys in the states.

I think we can say with some degree of confidence that the mob has a few online shops in CR. Sh1t, for all we know some of the A books could be mob run.
