Default Anyone Betting On The Fight Tomorrow?

Felix Trinidad vs Roy Jones Jr.
    At Madison Square Garden

I actually had an opportunity to go to this fight, and declined. Nonetheless, Felix is +315 at Matchbook at the moment. I think there's some good value there, what are your thoughts? Both fighters clearly past their prime, Jones Jr. has been more active as of late but I think Felix has a fair shot at knocking his ass out.

By the way I posted this here to get some more replies, Boxing forum kind of dead.

Trinidad didn't look in very good shape and even came in overweight at the weigh in...I think even an in shape Trinidad loses handily to Jones Jr so imo Jones Jr wins early by ko or tko.

This is so hard to analyze. Jones would win easily in their prime, I think Trinidad is closer to his prime, but Jones usually fought 30 pounds heavier than Trinidad. I don't think there is anyway you can play Jones in this spot with all the uncertainties. Kind of reminds me of when Mike Tyson lost to that big white guy who was like +600 in the last fight of his career. Although I would be surprised if he gets stopped the way Tyson did.

Strange fight. Trinidad never fought higher than 160 and now he can't make 170. Jones hasn't fought below 170 since 1996.

    I think Jones is completely done. . . I actually like felix + 315

I'm definitely not expecting a real barnburner or anything here. I just think there's enough value in Trinidad at +315 justify a bet. I can tell you this, I'm certainly not shelling out the $60 for the PPV, I'll either stream it online or wait until the outcome is known.

Yea I have no interest in watching this fight either, I'd rather watch a late NCAABB game

Trinidad not ripped like Jones but both are in good shape. The new breed of fags will like this. Trinidad's in a Speedo.

I think Jones looked terrible last time and he might be done, I would take Trinidad and getting an underdog price is kind of surprising to me.

Felix is gettin a better price due to Roy Jones having a bigger fan base, which will put more money on him. This is creating value here.

Based on that weigh in alone, I'd say Trinidad looks like he's in better boxing shape. If he is solid fundamentally and comes out without too much rust, he looks like he's better fit to go the distance.

Betting on it NO... Watching it... Hell yes!

I'm really hoping this fight lives up to the hype it's receiving, but I really doubt it. If I had to bet on it I would take Trinidad plus that nice price.

I can't believe that this fight is on PPV. It seems every fight imaginable is on PPV now. What happened to the days when you could watch a good fight on HBO live? Sad.

Jones Jr. by KO/TKO at 5-6 is my bet. I think some of you guys are really, really over thinking this one. The last time Trinidad made it up to 160, he got his ass handed to him by Winky Wright. I mean, he came out of retirement only to get beaten right back into retirement. Now he's fighting at 170 and he's supposed to hit one of the quicker men in boxing??? In their primes, this would be a RJJ KO/TKO before round 8. Now??? This is a RJJ KO/TKO before round 8... I'll wait for the last flood of cash to come in on Tito, but I'll be rolling with RJJ straight up and RJJ by KO/TKO...

    Couldn't resist, Felix +320.

If someone has some free streaming crap to share later on, feel free to add it in here, because I'm a little bored and if I can't watch it for free I might just say screw it, make some popcorn, and order it.

Couldn't be less true. Tito's much more popular and has always been a significantly bigger PPV draw than RJJ.

What weigh-in did you watch? Tito looks horrible at 170.

No offense, but playing Tito is a waste of money. Sure, both are past their prime, but Trinidad's decline is more significant in that he was never a skilled technical boxer, instead rely on his punching power. While Tito's power was lethal at 147 and 154, he's simply not a big puncher at 170, and he's not hurting a legitimate light-heavy like Roy. Jones, on the other hand, has every conceivable advantage - bigger, faster, better hand speed. RJJ would have utterly outclassed Tito 6 or 7 years ago, and he'll manhandle him just as easily tonight. The only question is whether Roy takes some chances to earn a stoppage or relies on his superior speed to coast to an easy decision. Trinidad can't win this fight.

Watched the weigh-in live. Tito's very soft in the midsection, no muscle definition.

Roy Jones has definitely been hitting the weights harder, that's not going to be an advantage in the ring though. Trinidad may have been more physically defined in years past, but he looks to be in fair boxing shape. Not at his complete best, but both of these fighters are past their prime.

Almost like being in the army, they don't care if you're ripped, just need to be able to run, do pullups, pushups, stuff that like that. Weight lifting is irrelevant to the conditioning. Those muscles will get fairly heavy after a while if Roy Jones wears himself out, if Trinidad stays on his feet and can outbox him a little I think the price is more than enough to justify a bet.

I want to watch the Golota/Mollo fight. I'm itching to bet Golota. A little late $$ on Mollo. I'm a bit worried since I think Golota was on the take by King in the Brewster fight. Mollo is in King's stable. Wouldn't be suprised if he tanks this one. Any opinions on this fight?

That's the point - Tito CAN'T outbox Roy. Trinidad was never a skilled technical boxer, and taking away his punching power (which moving up to 170 has done) makes him a severely limited fighter. Say what you want about Roy, but he still possesses great hand speed and athleticism in the ring. His losses were to legitimate 175-pounders (Tarver, Glen Johnson), not blown-up welterweights/junior middleweights with 12-rounds under their belt in over 3.5 years.

Man rjt, it seems like we're on the less popular side here, but as I stated in my earlier post, I think this is a larger mismatch than people are making this out to be. RJJ -295 now so here comes that late flood on Tito.

Again, there is NO WAY Tito outboxes Roy. Roy looks to be in superb shape and I agree that Tito looks soft in the midsection. Should be a fun fight, but if Tito just comes out looking to be the aggressor, which he will, then I think Roy will have a field day and just pick Tito apart. Granted, I'm a HUUUUGE RJJ fan, so there may be some bias, but this has all the makings of a RJJ KO.
