    Default Average Money Bet

    Alright everybody,


    Curious about something else as well just reading different posts around here.

    What does the average poster on here put down for their sports wagers? I guess it probaly varies greatly as seems some are on here as a hobby to do for fun and make side money and others are here to live off it, so just something I was thinking about

    And another thing, curious how many of you on here that wager value the importance of stats, and which are the most important. I see so many at times, and sometimes seems the ATS stats really make a difference and other times its just way off.

    I remember looking at a few games seeing stuff like :
    Home team 12-1 ATS
    Visting team 6-0 ATS last 6 games

    Something like this, just confused how much to look into it. I know you look at other stuff, like injuries, home court advantage, in state competition, new lineups, etc just wondeirng what else some of you might consider that has a true value.

    Sides and totals, I bet anywhere from $50 to $500 normally. I rarely make plays bigger than this. I made a few bets for a dime this football season and I recall one bet for 2 dimes.

    I look at as many stats as I can find. I don't use the sportsbook statistics because the ones like you mentioned either a) make my decision more difficult or b) make me want to lean a certain way.

    I use team and individual player stats, matchups, trends, but in the end I try to come up with what I believe the final score will be(mostly applies to sports besides basketball) and then set my spread accordingly. If I see an edge, I play that game. If not I usually pass.

    It seems that after I study the game I go with my gut on who to take(if anybody at all).

    As for basketball, I follow the SEC and ACC the closest and play mostly off feeling and recent games and matchups.

    I am by no means a "pro" so take this info with a grain of salt.

    I appreciate your response. Yeah for me I am averaging probably $50-$100 made few plays bigger but took a few hits so had to recover.

    Now you said dont normally look at the stats on the booksites, but where do you get stats at? I havent really looked that much into percentages about public betting to me seems useless, I like to look at matchups, individuals and teams, but havent found many good places yet for individual stats other then ESPN.

    I am same way as well, I will look at everything and calculate what think final score is, then go off that which is my gut combined with research gathered. I started betting alot college football in season, now just been doing college basketball and have been doing pretty good on it. Had a nice win streak then this Saturday went against my betting habits and went with some teams everybody posting before really doing my own research and sure learned lesson from that.
