If you're a novice, learn the strategy for the game. When you know how to play, then you need to learn how to play with others and learn things like the art of the bluff. Watching tournaments on TV give good insights into this. Also the freerolls are a pretty good way to get to grips with the game and give you experience of playing in public and no cost. When you've got to grips with that, then that's the time to stick your money in, grab a bonus and give it a try.

Where'd you sign up?

I know some bonuses can take forever. What I usually do is open 3 or 4 tables at a time, but I wouldn't recommend that for beginners.

Yeah, those games are pretty soft lately, with all of the "paradise millions" ads on the radio during the last 6 months.

You should have a free entry into the "paradise millions" freeroll tourney. I played mine last night but got busted after about 25 hands when I pushed my JJ against QQ preflop. UGH! lmao

there are a number of good books out there on how to play the sort of low stakes loose games that are typical online. Lee Jones' Winning low limit holdem, Miller's (et al) Small Stakes Hold'em (better for more experienced players), and Matthew Hilger's book Internet Texas Holdem (which you can get for free with some deals on his home page). You can apply their strategies at pretty much any poker site, I'd just recommended clearing a bonus while you do it to help smooth out the learning curve.

If you're just trying to clear bonuses playing on short handed tables clear them alot faster & on most sites playing higher limits clears them alot faster too.

The paradise freeroll should automatically be available for anyone registered with Paradise Poker. Just go to tournaments and select freerolls. I think there are 3 freerolls per day. But remember, it's just a qualifier. I think there are a million freeroll tickets at this level, so the overlay value of this freeroll invite is only $1 anyway.

I've gotta agree with pags here. Unless you really enjoy playing poker, it's really hard to justify all of the hard work that goes into being a winning player. For me, I just don't enjoy playing poker to that degree. Maybe I'll indulge in an occasional freeroll online, or an occasional Friday night home game.

The amount of skill and time required to earn $8 an hour playing poker online does not even come close to justifying the effort.

Poker's a game of skill just like chess and bridge and when you put in the time and effort to become good at it you can reap the benefits (ie winning money). However, it's a hard way to make an easy living. The swings in the game are huge and when you run bad it can become pretty stressful especially when its your main source of income. It's definitely not for everyone.

the one thing that i picked up is to be more aggressive. my natural tendancy is to be tight. but when i started playing online, i got tired of these 5-way flops with people playing any k3-q7-j9 type of hands with eventually someon hitting the flop.
