Default Now that the season is over, where would you rank OSU?

who is the best team in the nation, in your opinion?

i would have OSU outside of the top 5, probably around 8. the top 2 teams, imo, are UGA/USC.

I would probably stick them below Missouri. I think they should be #6.

Why Georgia? They didn't even win the SEC. I don't agree with ranking teams how they looked in their bowl games. The ranking should based upon the entire season. LSU winning the BCS doesn't bother me in the least.

UGA didnt win the SEC due to a tiebreaker. i mean...thats life, but its not as if someone else in the sec actually had a better regular season. the vols were better than LSU in the title game, ainge just threw them a game winning td for no reason. not as if the d made a great play, ainge just lost a game for his team. im not basing this on bowl games, if i was doing that, Tulsa would be the #1 team in the land. so yeah, uga did lose the tiebreaker. i would take them today, su, over lsu, in a bowl game.

GA is the best team. They should have played LSU for the title tonight and it would have been a repeat of the 2005 SEC championship game (GA rolled).

GA should start the year off next year at number 1.

They are also ranked 1st in recruiting for 2008. Reloading.

LSU, USC, Mizz, give us a play off, no more debate. Win it on the field and shut everybody else the fck up.

    5. WVU

    7. Ohio State
    8. Virginia Tech
    9. Oklahoma
    10. Tennessee

That would be my final top ten. So, I guess #7, even though I would still bet the three teams below them in a pk em game against OSU.

I can't put Georgia ahead of LSU considering UGA didn't reach the SEC Championship Game. I would go:

    1 - LSU
    2 - USC
    3 - UGA
    4 - Missouri
5 - West Virginia??? (still don't believe the Pitt loss, but dominated all other opponents since South Florida)

wvu almost lost to louisville and cinci gave them a game. that being said, i like your top 5.

This is a subject that everyone can have a different opinion on. It's difficult to say Georgia looked great in the bowl game knowing they played a crappy team that probably shouldn't have been there to begin with. I would say the best 4 teams, in no particular order, are LSU, USC, GA, and WVU. Without some type of playoff this discussion will happen every year.

i agree with most of that. i like mizzou over wvu, but obviously a case can be made either way. as for UH, most here were on hawaii and it seemed like people thought they were legit. uga beat up on the only team they were allowed to play. i said before the bowl games came out, playing hawaii was a no win situation. regardless, the more impressive win, for uga, was the clobbering of auburn. imo.

Take my Mizz team against your Georgia team, that winner advances.

On another site I advised people not to fall for Hawaii. I told them they reminded me of the University of Houston when they ran the run and shoot offense. Whenver they played bad or equal teams they put up ridiculous offensive numbers. Whenever they played a team like Miami they got destroyed.

Hell, Andre Ware won the Heisman and David Klinger went 6th overall in the draft. How did both do in the NFL?

ive said all season that hawaii wasnt a top 30 team and that colt wasnt a top qb. ive posted that in any thread where there has been discussion on the topic. we've been on the same page there.

You guys were so right about Hawaii. They would of finished below .500 if in the SEC or Pac-10.

I remember a Thursday night game back in the early 80s when Houston played at Miami. All the hype surrounded Houston averaging 60 points per game, and the line was only Miami -5....at home!

Canes won by about 86 points.

C'mon, H isn't thaaaat bad. They did happen to run into the team that was playing the best football in the nation and will almost certainly be #1 in the preseason polls for next season.

LSU/USC, that would be my championship game.

When looking at questions like this, I like to look at how these kinds of teams did in the very beginning of the season. Later on, injuries can really cloud differences in how good these teams are.

I'd take LSU over USC, with both teams at full strength. Georgia, I would say is a clear half-step down.

I don't know they barely beat Washington @ Home. Last year they barely beat Purdue @ Home. Hawaii looked really outclassed in that game versus UGA.

I could easily see them going 5-7 in the SEC. 6 or 7 losses to LSU,Tenn,UGA,Auburn,Arkansas,Florida,Ken tucky Alabama

Hawaii played like the 117th worst schedule out of 119 teams. There is absolutely 100% no way in hell will Hawaii be the #1 ranked preseason team next year. They will be lucky to be in the top 10.

yeah if they were in the sec east the conference would rank like this:

    1-UGA
    2-FLA
    3-TN
    4-KENT
    5-SC
    6-HAWAII
    7-VANDY

6th best in that half of the conference. pretty nice.

It's really just a very sad day for college football fans, who have to watch these ridiculous championship games that have a team that was not even a top 5 team for two straight years now.

I did not even watch the game tonight. I went to play pick-up basketball with some friends. We all knew what the result would be. I'm in the middle of big 10 country, we all know the conference is sub par.

These games are a joke that don't determine shit. In an 8 team playoff format Ohio state would have been bounced in the 1st round. Top 3 teams in the country are LSU, USC, and UGA in no particular order.

VERY SAD DAY for college football AGAIN this year to see a monster mismatch by this BCS folly.

Washington is a good team, probably the best team that didn't make a bowl game. The Huskies will be a pointspread darling next year, and it was a fantastic situation for them in that game (H off Boise hangover, UW having played toughest schedule in nation, treating game like a bowl game except with no pressure, Locker anxious to prove himself on national TV, Ty always a great dog).

Hawaii is obviously inferior to UGA and LSU. But no one else in the conference is really markedly better than Hawaii.

Who's the third best team in the SEC? Auburn? They don't have the secondary depth or the offensive potency to keep up. Florida? H would score almost every possession. Tennessee? Another very exploitable defense. Are those teams better than H? Probably, but I'd bet H +4 against any of them on a neutral field.

I'm just saying this ... after the completion of the regular season, H was only a 7.5 point underdog in a pseudo-road game against arguably the best team in college football. Sure, the matchup was horrible and so was the result. But that alone should tell you this was a top-15 football team, and I think certainly H could have held its own and finished near the top of any conference.

washington is not a good football team. being the best team not to make a bowl does not mean much. not that i agree with the statement to begin with, but even if i did, it doesnt mean much.

no one else in the sec is markedly better than hawaii? thats absurd. for one, hawaii got their ass kicked by a pretty bad bama team last year. i realize the final wasnt all that bad, but the score was 22-3 before hawaii scored some late, meaningless, points. hawaii is inferior to almost every team in the sec by a decent margin. you would bet hawaii + 4 vs Tennessee, Florida, and/or Auburn? i just dont see where you get this. UGA made a complete joke of this high school team. Tennessee made a joke of UGA. The vols arent better than UGA right now, but they would obliterate hawaii. Hawaii doesnt have more than 1 or 2 players that would start for the vols or auburn. they have zero players that would start for florida. hawaii played the 117th ranked schedule in the nation, who cares of they finished undefeated? vandy could have finished undefeated against that schedule, they beat no decent teams. Hawaiis big win was over Boise...i think boise proved to us just how good they are when they got smoked for 3 quarters vs ECU. I wish i could create these matchups and take your wagers. Hawaii is an awful team; not close to the 15. UGA was up 38-3 going into the 4th, uga could have won by 50 if they wanted to. UGA couldnt beat anyone in the SEC by 50, ever.
