Auburn should have been in the BCS game in 2004. In a way, I think Oklahoma's performance (as opposed to Auburn) in the BCS Championship helped Florida get there in 2005 and LSU in 2006.

Mo: I totally agree that the SEC is in a class above ALL conferences. However; you have to admit USC would give ANY of those teams major problems. Just look how USC, under Carrol, has DOMINATED the SEC.

I sure would have LOVED to have seen USC vs either LSU of UGA in the championship. Sure would have beat that joke that mismatch that took place tonight.

What reall sucks is most likely Ohiot st will get another chance at the national title next year, who will beat them in the big ten

As a Ohio State fan, it makes me mad that we got owned by yet another SEC team....I turned the game off after the end of the second quarter because i didnt wanna watch. As far as next year goes, they will probably beat michigan again but no bcs for them.

If The Big 10/11 keeps this up, they'll be the king of the Mid Majors soon. Maybe they can cash in on some point shaving scandals.

Michigan whooped Florida, A average Wiscy team almost beat Tenn. I dont think the SEC is light years ahead of the Big 10, but I would agree its the better conference right now. However with Rich Rodrigues bringing a new offense to Michigan and the Illini using the spread offense the Big 10 wont be as much old school football. I think the Big 10 will be very strong in 2008/09 season

yeah, ive said that i think USC and UGA are the two best teams. UGA and USC have recruited the best talent over the last 5+ years followed by the likes of LSU and UF. The sec recruits the best and thats not going to change any time soon. the SEC and USC will be the class of NCAA football for a while with some teams like wvu, ou, texas, oregon, osu having some nice teams that pop up in a title game or two when their schedules are weak. winning the sec should get a team into the title game each year.

Michigan was losing with a few minutes left. Wisconsin was never winning vs a vols team that was without 3 starters, 5 players that play, and had a staff of lame duck coaches that have already agreed with other schools. wisc was one of the worst teams i watched in the major bowl games.

as for the future of the big-10, they have one team in the top 12 in recruiting so far in 08, they had zero teams in the top 10 in 07, they had one team (PSU) in the top 10 in recruiting in 06, and they had one team in the top 10 in recruiting in 05. i wouldnt say they're catching up all that quickly.

well, he is not the best recruiter in the nation, but locksley is one of the best assistant coaches recruiters in the country. benn and davis did not commit to zook, fwiw.

No question Mo...In the end it all comes down to recruiting, and who's recruiting the top notch athletes. USC just recruits TONS of talents out of the very rich CA high schools. The SEC is just loaded with top recruits too, top to bottom of the conference. Really a shame that we had a championship with just one elite team.

hell, look at some of USCs top players:

    wr: (turner) Tennessee
    wr: (vidal) new york
    Qb: (booty) Shreveport, LA
    te: (davis) ohio
    rb (mcknight) River Ridge, LA
    lb: (cushing) New jersey
    lb: (rivers) floridas
    s: (mays) washington

these are all 5 star recruits, starting for usc, that are from all over the country. this team recruits nationalls, its really amazing the talent they bring in. there is no telling what they pay, but its safe to say that they pay well.

They didn't get accused of paying Bush, a wanna be agent made claims of paying Bush's parents for future access to him. The NCAA hasn't ruled if USC should have known yet though.

Mo is right on with everything he's said in this thread. I will never name names but know guys that have got Escalades, Navigators, fur coats, free tires and service, grades,$. I've personally gotten pocket $. $ is big because it can't be traced. It is normally handed to you by a 3rd party in a blank enevelope. Bush, White, and Leinhardt got plenty of $. One of the guys that recruited them also got kids enrolled with less than 2.0 GPAs and ACT scores in the teens plus $ when he was head coach at another school. Trust me, as a player and coach I've been in the middle of some of this stuff. Only took a few bucks for partying as a young player though and never influenced akid's decision whatsoever.

first hand knowledge, thanks for sharing man, there is so much more that goes on than most of us know about. my uncle coached college football for 27 years, he doesnt share those stories because its against everything he stands for, but i know there is a lot going on. hell, look at chris rainey just a year ago, he was paid well before graduating hs.

A couple of 20s on the weekend or something I can see but when an 18-21 year old gets handed keys or a couple of grand is a different story. I don't believe in that either. A kid in college at that age is not thinking about much but getting chicks and partying and stuff.
Also, I was in Memphis during the time of the Albert Means -Alabama scandal and personally know the people involved.

It makes you wonder what Florida is paying then. In the past year, they have gotten multiple players to decommit from places like USC and Notre Dame, and got 1 of USC's running backs to transfer.

BTW, are you the same Seer who called the USC blowout over Oklahoma a few years back?
