Default What is your opinion of Phillp Rivers?

    Is the jury still out?

The problem I have with him is the fact I don't see him improving much.

Consistently overrated since his days at NC State, but not even close to being as overrated as Eli Manning.

Classless. Jawing at Jay Cutler was uncalled for, and he was screaming while on the sidelines in the first half.

People expect too much from Eli because he's a Manning. When both quarterback's play well I'd take Eli over Rivers, I think he's shown more overall progression even though he does still make bonehead mistakes.

I've noticed that about him. He yells at his team a lot. Not the kind of guy that a team rallies around in my opinion.

Not that I disagree that Eli isn't a very good QB, but can he be considered overrated when it's basically common knowledge that he's been a disappointment? Who's exactly rating Eli as being anything more than a mediocre QB?

Disagree. Eli was the No. 1 overall pick and plays the most scrutinized position for a team in the biggest media market in the country. Expectations would be high for a player under those circumstances regardless of the player's last name.

The jury is still out.. I think he is a product of his offense... We'll see how he does next week...

I wonder if him and LT get along.

Doesn't seem to have much arm strength. If Tenn. didn't leave receivers wide open, they could have had more interceptions.

Average quarterback. Will never be great, but in top 15 of league today. Him along with the rest of his teammates talk way too much for a group of guys that has never won.

He's very fiery. The great QB's are much more relaxed. So I think there's a limit to how much he can grow unless he changes. If he stays this way, he'll want to force things too much.

And his arm isn't that strong. He had Chambers wide open. If he had thrown the ball further it would have been a TD. Instead, Chambers had to come back for the ball.

But this is only his second season as a starter, so he's done well so far. Let's see in a couple of years.

He's a redneck twat that has an over-inflated opinion of himself.

I'd rather have my qb yelling at people fired up with emotions and jawing at the other teams QB than Sulking on the bench.

I dont care how classless it is. Winnings winning and sometimes you gotta get the boys fired up.

Sounds like most of you wish he played QB for your team!

LT seems to like him in the interviews I've seen. I think he gets fired up which can be a good thing. I would say give him the rest of this yr and next before calling him overrated. JURY STILL OUT IMO.

do agree that what he did in Denver game was "no class"

Exactly. Sometimes I wonder if people remember what it was like to play competitive sports. The great ones at any level feed off this kind of thing.

    I agree 100%

If you look at Brady before the snap there is a calmness you dont see that often. Even more so than Peyton who I think is a tremendous QB.

Brady is so calm. Giving direction and getting ready for the play.

You dont see that with Rivers. Plus, as we recently saw he has a big mouth. Before you can start shootin your mouth off you need to succeed.

Not a good way to gain respect in the league. Without respect your gonna be a target everygame.

average QB, however QB play overall in the NFL is disgusting. Only a third of the QB are good and only a few that are great. So I can't express how bad I think phillip rivers is because who you going to replace him with. Good enough to win in this league with that defense, LT, and A Gates.

Above average. He's playing with a lot of confidence right now. Rivers is going to have the game of his life to beat the Colts in Indy and hope Peyton throws a couple of picks.
