Default Reporting Someone To The IRS...?

    Hey Guys,

I know this is a crazy question to ask, but you'll have to trust me on the circumstances. The person involved is about the most evil and conniving lowlife you could ever hope to meet, and has made his money in very unethical ways. To say the world would be a better place without him and that he should not have this money would be an understatement.

If I'm fairly familiar with the amounts in question that I KNOW he has not paid to Uncle Sam, how do I go about reporting him? I want to go about it anonymously if at all possible obviously. Anyone with more tax and/or governmental knowledge that can spare a minute would be most appreciated. Cheers....

Don't report other people. Unless they are a danger to society. Period.

People do that kind of stuff in a police state.

As a general rule I couldn't agree more Dark Horse. I'm about the last person to ever snitch and follow "guy code" through and through, but this situation is warranted. He's already been in jail twice before, and certainly meets the societal danger test. Anyone with IRS reporting info would be most appreciated...

irs.org would be the place to start.

Be careful. The guy might have a right to find out what was reported and he could maybe piece it together. Plus, you are not 100% sure.

Don't even rat out the biggest scumbag, because you are then worse IMO. Worry about your life and less about others. People screw up, accidentally and/or intentionally, the bottom line is that it is their life. God did not put us on this Earth to play his role.

Whatever you do, don't give up your name to the IRS as they will look into your tax returns. The shitty IRS figures you're probably a tax cheat too.

Umm... I've heard the IRS offers a reward for reporting tax cheats (Not verified obviously, but was told in my accounting class by our prof who was a CPA so YMMV. Maybe call and ask?) I'd assume its based on how much they can get back. But I don't really feel the moral or ethical qualms about reporting someone if you have a need for it. Do what you gotta do. If you can make a few bucks outta his misfortune, all the best.

People might call me "old school", but I strongly believe it "what goes around, comes around". With that said, I wouldn't do it. I'm contracted by government agencies in the line of work I do, and they can still possibly find out who you are if you call anonymously. Why risk bringing them into your life when you don't have to. On the other end of it, you said he's been to jail twice. That means he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, or he would have not been caught. He'll eventually slip up on his own again, and you'll be relieved that you never had to get involved.

I'm no defender of the IRS, and I suspect that in coming years their role in fukking with people under the guise of whatever guise they decide to go under at that moment will vastly increase - because if you prosecute someone criminally, it's all over the papers and people get up in arms about it, but if you fukk with someone financially, no one notices or cares.

But I also think hey, if BB wants to fukk with someone himself, or get revenge on someone, or do a societal good, or whatever, let him do it. I don't think it will hurt his karma at all, not that I'm a karma expert of anything. I say go for it!

Owned, what are you talking about? A guy who tells on someone doing something bad is worse than the guy who does it? If I see a murder and I tell people I saw it, that makes me worse than a murderer?

BB isn't playing God, he's playing citizen. If he wants to fukk with someone who is a bad person in his eyes, for whatever reason, I say fine.

Call up the IRS BB! Let him have it!

Thanks guys. I understand some people's contention to just let things take care of themselves in time, but I even believe I'll be doing the individual a favor in the long run in this instance.

That's a very interesting thing you mention about rewards Thremp. I'd assume keep this low key and am thus not interested in a reward in this case, but it makes you wonder if there are even professional tax narcs out there lol...

Preach on brother HG, preach on. What has really gotten me about this current administration is that they've been using the IRS (amongst many other governmental agencies) to just punish those that they view as dissenters. Of course you'll never see this mentioned in the media for a second. I had a buddy spend some of his last years on earth in jail due to a bullshit investigation into his affairs after refusing to cooperate in a bribing scandal involving a judge, and will never forget that until the day I die.

I really hope I can have the system take down a truly bad dude and set him straight, if only for a short while. Even drug dealers are supposed to file taxes...

If we lived in France during WW2 , I suspect BigBollocks would be one of the first to collaborate with the Nazi's to earn himself some extra rations.

Nice line there Jamie, won't take it away from you. As for your rations when you make it stateside, you can have my right hook for an appetizer, and my left cross for the main course. Survive those and you can have a bunch of Guinness, Smithwick's, or Newcastle on tap for dessert....

Being a rat in a case like this is similar to calling your older brother to go beat up the bully thats been bothering you. Be a man, fight your own battles. If you have "BIG " Bullocks.

When I was a Block Captain for the neighborhood watch program I busted so many people just from peaking through a small window and calling in to the cops on my police radio. I loved it and the power. I had to nail like 20 hot chicks parking more than 6 inches from the curb. I would let them park and then go measure and then call it in to cops on my radio.

Well it sounds more like you want to get even or are jelous in some way as opposed to "wanting to do good for society"... That is a bunch of garbage to me... What if someone wanted to do society good and turn you in for gambling..? If there is Karma then let "IT" take care of it and don't try and be a wanna be crime fighter... You are also contributing directly to the idea that people should be snitches on one another to the power structure... With all the fear in society (not that this is the case) but you can't go into a bank to cash a check without someone looking at you funny...

This is what bothers me the absolute most about people in society... It's a human trait that when one gets "power" (in this case on a scale of 1 to 10 it's like a 1/2) it becomes a drug to them... When you add in the fact that people put "LESS" value if any on others "LIVES" because they don't have as much material really makes things f*cked up..

It's thinking like this that is the problem in every aspect of our society... Don't get me wrong JJ you are one cool poster... I am just glad you don't do anything important...

He's doing what every normal person does: make judgments. This is natural and unavoidable, but the real problem comes when people try to act on those judgments. I'm sure there are some things in BB's life some people find despicable or wrong, but would then go so far to try to bring it to light and hurt him?

Maybe I'm old school, but this whole thread makes me want to puke and makes me sick to my stomach. The fact that BB suggests in his first post that he wants to go about it anonymously makes me even want to puke more. Tried to just come in and say my peace, but this thread really angers me and don't want to waste time here.

Simply put, I hate rats more than anything. You got a problem, be a man, and confront the guy face to face.

BB as a rule, you should keep to yourself and don't worry about other people's business unless they mess with you or your family. And if they do mess with you the last thing I would do is report them to the IRS. I just wouldn't want my name associated with the IRS.

Just a heads up: If you report him to the IRS, don't think that the IRS isn't going to investigate you too.

I don't think there's enough information to answer this. How bad is this guy? If he's lets say a murderer or sex offender then I say turn him in. If you just don't like the guy then keep your mouth shut.

  28. #28

I would turn him in. The IRS may even give you a reward for your trouble.

This isn't really accurate. For example. Say I know a business owner who is shuttling hundreds of thousands through one business and through the front of another (more likely real crime, but bear with me). I meanwhile am a lowly peon in the great cog of the world. I work 9-5 and live alone. I pay a paltry sum in taxes and while I may overstate my mileage by using a weird dollar adjusted MPG for my vehicles, I don't flaunt the system openly.

The IRS would have a monumental waste of their time investigating me here. More than likely they are going to thank me for reporting a criminal, pay me my reward upon collection, and the other guy gets effed. (Note: Pay you taxes on rewards.) Its like when a 17 year old kid asks about paying taxes on the 4k he made cutting lawns during the summer. He is told to pay his taxes because it is correct and just (unjust?). Not because there is some fear of reprisal if he does not.

They pay awards but it has to be a lot, check the website, probably about 200k+ AGI for individuals. Hate to say it, but unless it's at least a few hundred thousand BARE MINIMUM they aren't going to care. They also want to evidence, not "Joe Jones down the street is selling drugs". They want shit like "This guy has a business he's running and he's making a ton and hasn't filed a return in 10 years".

  35. #35

    Default

You can get a reward but that is only once they collect, not when they assess, so who knows when that could be. Plus, especially for a reward, your info has to be specific, not "This guy works for Lowes but I saw him betting $500 a hand on Blackjack", and that can be tough to do. Anyway, the government is worse than all the tax cheats combined so don't do it unless he's trying to sue you or something.
