Blanket him? sure. But Moss is so good at getting the ball over smaller defenders. If Cromartie had Deion's cover skills, he could take away Moss. That's about it.

He was early 30's. I still remember that Thanksgiving where Dieon wouldn't play because of turf toe...But he did get to practice against Rice. That might help him.

My vote would have to be the bears. Chicago was so dominating that year, I don't think Brady would get any time to throw. That's what is great about these what if possibilities, you never know what might have taken place.

my choice would be some of the Pittsburgh Steeler teams in 1970's, the Raiders in 1983, and some of the 49er teams in 1990's, right along with some of the Cowboy teams in the 1990's also could beat this New England team.

Still, I would take that defensive unit for that one year over any other NFL defense in history.

I'm a huge fan of the 85 Bears, always have been. But they couldn't hold Marino and the '85 Dolphins to less than 38 points, so they ain't holding this NE offense in check either.

Why would you point out the ONE bad game the Bears had that year when they allowed an unheard of 10.9 points per game over 19 games (including playoffs)? The Miami game was an aberration, as they caught an emotional Dolphins team in Miami on a Monday night determined to remain the only unbeaten team, while the Bears had nothing to play for from a standings standpoint. The other 18 game were a truer indication of how great the Bears were, and yes that unit could shut down anyone including the 2007 Pats.

Because the Pats have yet to have that "one bad game". When/if they do, I will eat crow. If they run the (19 game) table then the deserve the title of "best ever" with no debate.

I assure you I was a big Bears fan in '85 and was shocked by that Monday night loss to Mia, but it DID happen and because it did IF NE manages to win 'em all then that makes them more dominant in my eyes.

Also, as each decade goes by, the athletes get that much faster & stronger which (20+years later) presents some major athletic match-up problems for the '85 Bears at this point in time....much like in '85 how we all said those Bears would beat the '72 Dolphins because athletes had gotten faster & stronger - the same argument applies now against that Bears team.

Fair enough.

the imm rec was '72 and they lost in the next round to the perfect dolphins, so i can't vote for that year which was the year of their first playoff appearance. They won the super bowl after 74, 75, 78, and 79 seasons. And maybe their best defensive year was 76 when they lost in the AFC championship game --

If Pats win , it will be 4 in 7 years. Great, but a little short of Steelers 4 in 6 years. Although I will concede that steelers were never undefeated . Here's hoping the Pats don't make it.
