If you want to get in shape, try boxing.

i used to box a bit, but ive only got one kidney so i cant get into it too much. i lift and all but i find the cardio part hard to get into, so i was thinking something like martial arts would be a decent alternative to just running.

    Don't be a f\*g.

Just go out and run, or have a lot of sex or something.

What time of day are you trying to get into cardio? I recommend as early as possible. A good run is a perfect way to start your morning. Every hour you wait, you're more likely to blow it off. Weight lifting is easier to maintain because we're men and in a sense it requires less effort.

yeah well you can speed your metabolism a lot if you work out quickly with weights, but thats not easy to do without being on something. breakfast is the most important part of a persons metabolic rate, from my understanding, so would i eat and then run? i usually go to the gym after 9pm...a run in the am sounds awful, but you've got to do what you've got to do.

I am not an expert on this topic, but what I do works well for me and I've gotten results this way.

I wake up a little hungry every morning, chug a whole bottle of water, do stomach crunches, have a healthy breakfast than I'm on my way and I run for a couple of miles. I alternate other exercises as well but just generally, you want to get your cardio done to kickstart your day, and you want to do your weight lifting later on.

That's just the advice that's been given to me by gym rats, people who train for a living, stuff like that, and from doing a lot of research. I'm sure you could approach it differently to fit your needs, but it's worked for me. Cardio+carbs early, protein throughout day, weights later on, etc etc, all depends on your body and needs/desires.

good info bud, thank you. for some reason i have a hard time getting energized right away in the morning, but you've got to kick your own ass if you want results. ive heard that it takes 21 days to create a habbit....i'll see if in a few weeks it becomes 2nd nature.

I wake up M-F at 5am to work out. I'm too lazy to leave it until after work. Walk both my dogs a 1/2 each for cardio, then I hit the weights for 45 minutes. Thats it for me.

If there's a training facility in your area you might want to look into Krav Maga.

What is your main goal in martial arts? Self defense or cardio?

Does your gym have cardio kickboxing? I'd just do that, it would be cheaper.
