Default A little bit on Dungy/UCLA

    MORNING BRIEFING
Dungy gets hard sell on UCLA

By Larry Stewart, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
    December 20, 2007
How about a Super Bowl-winning coach to fill the vacancy at UCLA?

Tony Dungy, who guided the Indianapolis Colts to a victory over the Chicago Bears in last season's Super Bowl, is a regular guest on the Fox Sports radio network show that former UCLA defensive back James Washington does with Craig Shemon, and this week Washington did a little recruiting.

"After you win your second Super Bowl, would you like to be the coach of the UCLA Bruins?" Washington asked Dungy.

Dungy: "You know what? I have always admired John Wooden. And to maybe be on the same campus where John Wooden was, it would be something special. [But] I don't think I could get my wife out that far West. But it would be special."

Washington: "We'll put a special package together just for you."

Dungy: "Well, you can float that rumor a little bit."

just something interesting i came across and figured id share. I cant imagine there is much chance of dungy leaving for UCLA. im sure Coach PC at USC would be the most disappointed man in football if this actually came to be. It would be hard to out recruit Dungy if he were to land that job. then again, Dungy is a man of morals while CPC seems to be generous fairly with his checkbook.

    anyway, just some info.

I think he was showing them respect with his comment, he previously stated he'd retire a Colt, a few months ago, and I believe him. Unless he retires and one day gets the itch to go to the college ranks, I can't see him actually leaving the Colts for college.

yeah, i agree with ya. first team ever to win 12 games 5 years in a row, no reason to leave.

I believe he's taking a shot at Dungy's son committing suicide.
