Default Betting on the Patriots Isn’t the Lock of the Year

Here is an article on the Patriots in today's New York Times. Basically, the Patriots are only 10-4 ATS, 2-4 ATS in the last 6 games and have failed to cover everytime they have been favored by 17 or more points. As great as the Pats have been this season, they haven't been a good bet.

The most idiotic quote I've ever seen:

"New England may be undefeated, but the team has only a 10-4 record against the point spread set by Las Vegas oddsmakers."

Only 10-4. Boy, that sucks, I guess they want 14-0 ATS as well. Even if they don't cover the last 2, that's a hell of an ATS record.

What a ridiculous statement. This is probably the most retarded thing I've read all week.

I don't think New England bets on themselves to cover the spread.

"Las Vegas oddsmakers, however, have done something that none of the N.F.L’s. brightest offensive and defensive coordinators have done this season: beat the New England Patriots"
