Default Guys my Lock of the Year!

Dont usually do this, but the HEAT are +1 vs the Hawks, who are playing well but are good fade material from here on out, as they have no inside game

Key in this one is Haslem,Shaq and Mourning gonna dominate the boards and Wade will light it up

GUYS trust me on this one, pound the Heat!

    82-79. Hawks

That was the Hawks beating the Heat in Miami a few weeks back. Plus they just beat a good Jazz team.

I would be careful making this one a "lock".

The Hawks are a better team then most portray them to be. I have the Hawks being a -3 tomorrow. So the Hawks would be my lean. I am staying away though. Unless the Hawks become a underdog, then I will hit the ML.

    Good luck biggamer.

Atlanta will out-rebound them, as they should.

To expect Shaq to do anything but eat donuts these days is truly ambitious.

That being said, good luck to you.

I understand your concern, but this is one of those games where i just know before hand its a winner

Last week it was with the Titans -4 and they won by 9

BTW the Knicks beat the Jazz so lets not call them a great team, they are a good home team, but nothing special on road

Game of the Year on the Heat?
    That's a recipe for disaster.

How do you know wade will be the one lighting it up and not Joe johnson or Josh Smith. It's the NBA you just don't know. Anyway I lean toward the hawks.

Just by calling it a "Lock", the win expectation went down 20%. No better way to jinx yourself than to say it's a lock.

Damn. I liked this game until I saw this lock crap. They might still win but I can honestly say in my experience that about 75% of the proclaimed locks have failed to live up to expectations. GL. Passing now.

The only way, just need to add this, that a game can be considered a lock is if you are the one fixing it.

There is no such thing as a LOCK. Especially in the NBA.

In the NBA I have a tough time with locks there. It depends if the team is hitting or not in that sport. Good Luck on your lock but I will pass, when it comes to a losing team like they are I will definately pass.

I think Hawks will have no problem beating the Heat. If anything, this game is FAR from being a lock.

I understand your concern, but this is one of those games where i just know before hand its a winner
Unless you're God, you can't know who is the winner, even if you're sure 99.9% that Heat will win, there is still 0.01% left for the Hawks. Personally, I bet on Hawks to cover -1.5 points.

Are you sure about this? What about Orlando/Houston under 194 tonight?

If you would take the +1, why not just take the moneyline?

I bet less than 1% of games with a line of 1 actually land on a 1 point differential in final score.

What if the game goes to OT--or multiple OTs? This is why I hate betting BB Totals, overtime kills the good Under handicapper.

First of all, about the question before, most books dont allow a Ml when line is +1

Second, How many games go to Overtime?

Less than 5% so its not that big a deal

BG3: The response you were referring to was to HG about an Under in the Orl/Hou game (don't forget about OT is what I was trying to tell him), not your sure thing on Miami that you exclaim. For both of you, Lock talk is a joke!

Now you can boast tomorrow how your coin toss lock won, big deal. Congrats in advance.

    Under 194 Orl/Hou...a Lock (100%)

Miami to beat Atlanta ...another lock (different tout, but also a sure thing-- 100% by definition).

So can I get even money that at least one of these "locks" loses?

  22. #22

No takers? Hey, they're "locks", you can't lose--right?

I guess mine maybe is not a lock. I wanted it to be, but you can't wish something true if it isn't. Would that you could but you can't. Would that you could! Ok I will downgrade my Orl/Hou under 194 from 100% to about 57%.

My problem is with the terminology of "Lock". HG gets it, but BG3 thinks it exists. You can have a best bet, but not a lock--unless the game is fixed.

    Or a moron like greek.

Good luck with the Heat, BG3. I'm passing altogether on the entire NBA slate.

I can understand that. We've all, at one point in time, have entered a "lock" thread and said something to the effect of, " your not supposed to say that." Guilty as charged.

But sh1t it's the holiday. So f!@# it.

I'm rooting for BG3 here. I hope he f!@#ing nails it.

I wonder if Ganch has a number for every time someone on this board said the word "lock", and you faded them. Might be something to look into.

Some bad luck for you on Mourning's injury, but he would not have made up the rebound differential by himself anyway.

Shaq could be the least valuable center in the league now.

Also, one needs no further evidence about "locks" in the NBA than a casual glance at tonight's SA-Memphis score. WTF?
