Default Who Is The Best NFL TV Color Man? And Who the Worst?

I think Madden is still the best - especially since his corny BOOM and "big old . . . " shtick is apparently long in the past.

The worst in my view is doing the game I'm currently watching - Phil Simms. Not as bad as he used to be since taking t he cure for compulsive mouthiness, but not one of the better ones.

I can't even nominate anyone for best, although I guess I'd side with Madden by default.

The worst? Where to start. The list is endless.

Steve Tasker: A complete fool. Makes a half-dozen absurd comments during the course of a game that make no sense. Today's? In the driving snowstorm: "This game could be a shootout."

Solomon Wilcots: Master of the obvious. Terrible.

JC Pierson: Another guy who makes no sense except cliche after clice.

    Tony Boselli: Terrible.

I'd also put among the best - tho I know no one else will agree - Dan Dierdorf.

He's able to translate his knowledge of the game - I think he was an O-lineman for the old St Louis Cardinals - in an interesting, non-lecturing way. While also seeing the action as a fan would.

I like Dierdorf most of the time, but he doesn't know the rules, especially replay, and he's wrong on every prediction he makes when looking at replays. But he does make sense most of the time.

    Good post slew!

Aikman is excellent. Dan Dierdorf is annoying and flat out wrong about the play too often.

He's a true degenerate gambler and one of my favorites also.

Madden has that distinct, horrific voice, but provides the best insight.

Gumbel sucks. Deion sucks. The whole NFL network sucks.
