My friend gets this magazine from sportsbook.com called "playbook." It's basically an NFL/Poker magazine with a bunch of junk disguised as important information and advertisements for the book (i.e. writers continually repeating how great sportsbook.com is). He gave it to me b/c he knows I like sports betting and thought I might enjoy it. In it, they give the schedule of each NFL team (which is the only thing of any value in the magazine) and then provide some poker tips. There are also a few articles...and let me just say this...the articles could not be more misleading to a young bettor or recreational player--the main clientale for sportsbook.com.

Basically there is an article in there urging readers to play parlays and it says something like "what are you waiting for" and it tells them all the great things about parlays and the massive payoffs you'll receive when you hit them. Of course, sportsbook.com is remiss to mention all the negatives of parlays and the extreme low probability of winning one.

No articles on the importance of money management, line shopping, patience, etc...Instead, it promotes one of the worse betting strategies a bettor can employ: a parlay.

Time to give sportsbook.com its real grade: F-

generally if a book wants to attract "sq's" it will put out information along those lines you really don't want to teach a guy to play "moves" if that's not the crowd you are looking for.

BUT, let me say this sb.com does pay with NO problem and has for many years.

I beat him "like a rented mule" week end and week out and have never had any problem getting paid at all my friend.

You have to be kidding. They won't stiff and you will eventually get your money, but to say they pay "with no problem" is far from accurate.

Yup. Sportsbook.com is on my personal DO NOT TOUCH list due to the large number of complaints I have monitored, literally for years.

I mean...its a good beginner book for about a month...and then drop it. It's not worth the hassle to play with really any book in the sportingbet family. However...i like SIA quite a bit so I guess we all take our own risks.

SportsBook is paying quicker the past two or three months ... don't get me wrong, it's still 24-72 hours for a Neteller, but that's a big improvement over what their Neteller payout times were before that (sometimes a week or two, even if you weren't getting audited) .... and I haven't been audited in about nine months, after being audited about a half-dozen times in the previous year.

Getting the same story from a couple of other posters, too ... being paid quicker & no more audits.

Not necessarily true (I assume you're talking payouts rather than "funding an account").

From what I've read, they're fairly efficient in paying out by FedEx to U.S. customers, but any time I've ever requested a cheque by FedEX to be sent to me in Canada, they've always just sent it to my Neteller account instead (who the hell knows why, but they did ... didn't make much sense to me, because each time I requested a FedEx cheque, it was for 5-figures, and I would think it would be a whole lot cheaper for them to send me a cheque by FedEx, than to pay the whole thing out by Neteller, considering SportsBook covered all the Neteller fees).

Read some horror stories about payouts by wire, though.

As far as "funding an account", SportsBook has a pretty good success rate with CC deposits, probably the best in the industry ... I do both - on average, 50% of the time I fund my account with Neteller, 50% of the time with ****. And in both cases, they pay out withdrawals by Neteller ... they don't credit anything back to your **** (they used to, but not anymore).

Supposedly neither **** or ** allow this anymore. I havent seen any complaints from their players in a while BUT I'd still recommend Neteller with them. They have audited you a few times and you know thats the price you pay to deal with them. Joe 6Pack is very upset by these and I think Neteller helps reduce audits.

Thats odd... Must have to do with Canada.

We get about one complaint per month from a player who requested his funds by Neteller and is sent a bank check. So...instead of the player having the ability to toss his funds back in a sportsbook, he has to wait for the check to reach him, then wait for the check to clear his bank and then for the Neteller EFT deposit to clear. To top it off, the European players (who see this the most) get hit with fees for incoming transfers to their bank.

this was actually the first online book I ever played with...CS people can barely speak English and just depositing money was a problem (granted this was like four years ago)...then payouts were another tough task...SBR's rating is about right for these guys...

$8K Neteller payout requested early this morning ... paid today at suppertime ... less than 24 hours ... that would be virtually unheard of a year ago.

Please, don't use Sportsbook.com. They were my first book, and I had a terrible experience with them. They owed me over $6000 and flat out wouldn't pay, accused me of cheating (HOW?) - it was all a load of crap. Everything was fair and square, but they wouldn't pay. I spent hours on the phone, customer service was terrible, bad english...

This was a couple years ago, so things MIGHT have changed, but when there are so many more reputable books out there, why take a chance?? All I can tell you is two years ago, they were crooks. It's very frustrating to be stateside and have no recourse whatsoever.

So you rate a book at one of the top 25 out there purely because of a large customer base? I really think you should have a review of the fundamentals of your rating system. Have a look at the variables on which SBR rate the books - their ratings are generally top notch.

I was with these guys for a long time. I never had any problems but after
discovering your website, I have moved on to the greek. I have always used

The book should NEVER be rated just because of their # of players.

Over the years I have played into a few books with just a handful of active players at the time, but outstanding in many other areas like paying everyweek w/no hastles, customer service , great phone clerks and so on....

but to rate a book on that bases is not really fair from where I sit.

jjgold...doesn't McDonald's have a big customer base...but I don't really consider them to have good food...hopefully you'll appreciate the analogy...I'd stay away from sportsbook.com...btw, this forum is sweet...
