Default Maybe Jamie UK Speaks For Many Brit Fans

Very disappointing behavior by the Brits at the Mayweather-Hatton fight. They booed throughout the entire US anthem, and were completely classless after Hatton went down for the count. Even Hatton himself couldn't have been a bigger jerk after the fight. While Mayweather was praising Hatton and his UK contingent post-fight, Hatton spent the whole press conference talking about how Mayweather just got lucky, played tickle wars on the inside, and wasn't really that strong of a puncher. I heard the Brits raised hell and committed a bunch of assaults in Vegas last night also. Completely disappointing, classless, and lowlife thug behavior from the British contingency for this big occasion...

Come on now, what do you expect from the English contingent? Have you ever seen them go nuts at international soccer events? English = Hooligans. Austria/Switzerland are breathing a sigh of relief England failed to qualify for Euro 2008. Will save them ALOT of trouble.

Which is so surprising because Las Vegas usually brings out the best in people ...

And this didn't even involve a soccer ball. Nice to see hooligans crossing sporting lines.

As for the boxing, the ref was too fussy , Hatton was robbed and cheated.

Americans are more interested in what hand held food is available at a sports event than the sport itself.

Yes, Italy, very good. You know, the greatest country in Europe. The sun actually shines there on occasion. You should check it out.

And I believe the Italians actually qualified for Euro '08, correct? They also did quite well in the World Cup if I remember correctly.

I'm a sucker for buying into the British hype, thinking Hatton could last the whole fight. I knew he would not win, but I didn't expect his bitch ass to get knocked the f out and owned so hard in the second half of the fight.

the Brits have had a severe inferiority complex since WWII. not surprising that it was confirmed this weekend, with the classless actions of their fans and the ass whippin handed out by PBF. Now the Brits can't even admit defeat with class, what a shocker.

WWII? When the Yanks turned up for the last ten minute's to join the victory party! After timers of the worst kind.

The African lad is a good boxer , but it was a moral victory for Ricky and for sportsmanship.

The only person who displayed any kind of sportsmanship was Mayweather. Ricky and his fans were disrespectful, and I'm glad he got his ass knocked out.

PBF has been a khunt for years, Ricky taught him a few lessons in humility.

The fans were not disrespectful , you only think that because you have no passion as a supporter, all you guys care about is getting another hot dog down your throat and fattening up your lard ass.

First off i`d like to congratulate Mayweather on an awesome display of boxing.I haven`t seen the fight but i have read the report on the BBC website.
Usually only the english football fans disrespect other countries national anthems, but it looks like those mindless idiots have chosen to take it to the boxing arena as well. There is no need for this kind of behaviour and it really pisses me off.But BB please don`t class us all as the same as those idiots.

Cheers Vanman, it's always nice to hear a voice of reason wherever it may come from. I've spent a bunch of time in England (one of my sets of grandparents is Scottish), and actually think the world of the place. Every true sports fan should go to an EPL game before they die (go Bolton Wanderers)! On the whole, I generally find most Brits more polite and educated than just about anywhere else (thus why I was so disappointed in that many people showing the ultimate in disrespect).

The thing that disgusted me about the whole thing is that these are supposed to be the more elite fans who travel. I understand getting revved up before a big fight, but to go into someone else's country just to stir up shit and look for trouble is absurd. To Star Sports' and the BBC's credit they were very harsh on everyone booing the anthem. I've never before seen so many people go into a foreign country and boo the local anthem like that. You could hardly hear the singer the boos reigned so loud throughout. Needless to say the behaviour of Hatton and the crowd post-fight was shameful too. I had money on Mayweather, but used to be a tremendous fan of Hatton and his grit.

I know Jamie is very one-sided in his view, but you'd have to have some extreme blinders on to not view the actions on Saturday as shameful...

Jamie that's absolutely crazy. Cheated is a decision that clearly went the wrong way, or an early stoppage that shouldn't have occurred. No one who saw the fight and has a 1/10th of a brain would say what you said.

Mayweather utterly dominated Hatton from the 6th round on, and had been close to dropping him for two rounds prior. He caught Hatton so clean in the 10th he was woozy for 30 seconds afterwards, and on the 2nd knockdown Hatton remained on the mat for over a minute....

Its football culture , its contaminated boxing and cricket to a degree, if your offended about booing the anthem, you should be an Australian at the cricket and see how you feel after 3 days of people singing songs about you being a convict, its been part of English culture since the mid 1800's when the army had to be brought in to control the crowd at a football game in Derby.

I dont support the booing of an anthem , but i'm not precious or pious about it either , its not that they hate you or your country, its just part of the wind up, like chanting "Who are ya" , its just Anglo Saxon tribal behaviour.

We need a good ground war to give the lads something to get their teeth stuck into.

Agreed 100% there, what a colossal failure on so many counts. Bear in mind, however, that it was Britain who once forced all three factions together as a country a century ago (which was always doomed to fail). No excuse whatsoever for the disastrous situation that George W. Idiot created for generations to come though

I learned growing up between America and Canada just how different they view their national anthems. Americans view all anthems as sacred, and generally always take off their hat, stand at attention, and remain somber and applaud everyone's anthem. In Quebec, people will talk throughout their own anthem and don't give a damn, much less other countries' anthems. It appears England is closer to the latter.

As for the Aussies, I learned sometime back that when the English call them "POME bastards," that it's not the bastard part they take offense to lol...

I forgot to mention that Hatton is a big Man City fan,so unfortunately all his supporters are yobbo football fans not proper boxing fans.

Now that's funny. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone here who hates the United States more than me, but that's funny.

The US showed up for the last 10 minutes of WW I too, Because the UK wasn't going to make it, and they owed American money interests a LOT of money.

We don't lack passion. We just don't feel it's necessary to get arrested at sporting events.

What upsets me is the lack of respect, booing during our anthem.

When Hilter ran his campaign through Europe. Great Britans supplies were totally cut off. We saved these guys. Our great grandfathers or is some cases fathers, gave their lives to protect the people of England. Fought side by side with them. Maybe we should have done nothing.
