Steve Yzerman is the Tampa Bay Lightning’s new general manager

    Yzerman new Lightning GM

TAMPA, FLA.—Hall of Famer Steve Yzerman is the Tampa Bay Lightning’s new general manager, taking on the task of rebuilding a franchise that’s fallen on hard times since winning its only Stanley Cup championship six years ago. The former Detroit Red Wings captain and executive was introduced Tuesday as Brian Lawton’s replacement during a news conference at St. Pete Times Forum. Lawton and coach Rick Tocchet were fired April 12.

Stevie Y will be back in Hockeytown. This is just a transitional phase.

Think Tocchet was a decent coach, just to many holes on defense for the Lightning.

Anyone heard any coach's names being thrown about for the vacant job?

Scoring goals should not be a problem for TB next season.

Agree with Deuce, he's stellar no doubt about it but Detroit probably wants him to gain some experience before he takes over the reins there. Kind of paranoid of them, but when everyone's out to get you...Cheers

Right, Yzerman will be learning his new trade at a farm club like Tampa before returning to an important hockey franchise like the Wings.
