Default Internet Gambling Prohibition Weakens US Revenue Base

New revenue projections submitted to congress by Representative Jim McDermott (D-WA) show that regulating internet gambling would generate between $6 billion and $15 billion in revenues for the U.S treasury in the first five years of enactment and between $17 billion and $48 billion in the next decade.

These facts alone should get lawmakers attention as stunning deficits mount in the areas of social security, health care, and education.

These revenue figures take into account that some professional sports leagues may decide to opt-out and some states may choose to allow online gaming in addition to their brick and mortar gaming.

Here is an article on the budget estimate:

Let’s keep the pressure on Congress to regulate Internet gambling both for the freedom of our citizens and the welfare of our country.

With all due respect, no amount of money is worth putting children in harms way. They can rack up hundreds of thousands in CC debt, families will go bankrupt, lose their jobs, become alcoholics, have no money for the collection plate at church, no money for state lotteries or horse races.

I honestly can't believe you'd even suggest there's any possible way we should even consider taking in that blood money, must not be a parent.

Also don't forget how a tough stance on gambling is what God wants and a blow against our enemies who would have us succumb to their "tara"!

I don't want this government to have more money.

I have accounts with twelve online sportsbooks. I have only minor inconveniences dealing with depositing and receiving money from them.

I absolutely do not want the US government involved in any way with offshore sportsbetting. Everything the US government touches turns to shit.

    **** the US government.

The numbers are mind boggling and should get their attention. But, of course, they won't. They'd rather go bankrupt.
