Nobody that I know of makes that kind of cash. You will be hard pressed finding someone especially that posts on boards like this who makes that much coin.

One of my acquintances here in Finland makes his living out of capping mostly soccer games. Really impressive six figure profit yearly, but he's been doing it for a long time and is quite damn wealthy.

yes i know multiple soccer bettors in the EU that make large sums just capping. i am not sure if they are 6 figures but certainly enough to be comfortable without working. i can't get into the game enough to do it myself but a couple of them swear that soccer is the most beatable game available. part of the problem is getting into some of the books they are able to use which post outrageous lines due to loads of square action.

I don't know the guy that well, but i have no reason not to believe him. He's leding a very comfortable life style. He said to me he has made over 100,000 yearly for several years in a row. I know he bets at Befair and Pointbet. Betfair is an exchange with very low juice and really high limits on Big leagues. Pointbet has healthy limits on asian handicap soccer bets, like 20.000 per bet. even in lower leagues and you can make multiple max stake bets. That might move the juice, but still i don't think he ever bets that much in a single game. Also Pointbets juice is around 4cents, so it's same as Pinnacle on asians, but Pinnacle has a limit of 400 dollars on them.

I took the question, which used the word betting rather than gambling, to include scalpers etc.

2005 was actually not that difficult a year to get into 6 figures for a sharp bettor with a good sized stake. Anyone who saw what happened at the Mansion exchange between about April and July should know what I'm talking about. They were throwing money at us.

Assuming we're not going to see a period of sheer insanity like that again, 2006 will be a much bigger challenge.

I think that anyone making 6 figures from gambling (unless it includes decimal points) wouldn't admit to do so on a board. They're professional people making a lot of money and have no inclination to post on message boards squealing how sharp they are.

Similarly anyone making money from scalping/middling/granny scamming/whatever who is boasting about it on boards are either stupid or they're liars. One sure way to end a money making scheme is to tell everyone how you're doing it. Smart people would keep their mouth shut.

unless you have a cooperative relationship with a sportsbook(marketing agent,beyond the box,etc...)the relationship is adversary.having been ripped off so many times has hardened me to pound the books from every angle possible.as bill says,you,re not dealing with a bunch of nuns here-this applies to both sides of the trench.as i see it,this forum should exist to help players learn,make more money,entertain, fulfill marketing efforts,and be a collective force to put marketing pressure on unfair books.i discontinued using beard accts,the point i was making was that if i was eligible for new acct bonuses,referrals,etc on a ongoing basis it would be easy to maintain 6 figures doing this.good luck to the players,the books dont need it.

8 figures! They mainly make it on the in-running play where they will just bet one direction the whole match long!

I've also heard in-running trading in betting exchanges like betfair is very popular. Many surebet opportunities laying/selling the team you had your initial bet on to arb some profit. I've yet to try exchanges out myself, but will probably do it soon.
