Default Help me plan my Vegas Trip

Im probably going to Vegas in April.
Whats the best/cheapest place to stay?
What is the best time to go?

I was going to go during american thanksgiving and stay at the Mirage cuz it was so cheap. For the money, the Luxor looks like the best place to stay i guess. Someone hook me up with some info.

Luxor is just garbage. Look into the Venetian and see if you can get a nice deal.

I personally prefer downtown. I stay at the Golden Nugget. Depends a lot on the atmosphere you like. I like old Vegas.

Are you from North America Rob? If you're not, as someone who lived in Vegas for several years, I would highly advise you to go to Montreal instead. Better women, better culture, better everything. If you're looking for a warmer climate, obviously go to Florida, Baja, South Padre, or Cancun instead. Vegas used to be a little cool a couple of decades ago, but even then it was running on fumes. Now it's just a bunch of wiggers from California and losers from the rest of the country who ran from home because their daddies beat them and such. I went back for a summer a couple of years ago, and had two suicides on my street within a couple of weeks. The buildings are incredible and the food is great if you go to the right place, but overall it is a hellhole that offers low limits on worse lines. GL...

The MGM always has decent rates. I stayed there in '01 and had a pleasent experience. They also have a real nice poker romm if you play hold'em.

I have stayed at MGM a few times also. Nice place, good rates, awesome pools, but too big.

I like to be able to easily walk to the 10 or so downtown hotels, then catch a bus if I want to go to the strip.

Spend the extra money and stay at the hard rock. The view at the pool is worth it.

April is a good time to visit. Not to hot then. Also the start of baseball season. Maybe during Superbowl weekend, but then I am sure room prices go up. But you can attend one of the many Superbowl parties. Just a suggestion.

As far as hotel rates go, I really can't help there. I live here, and don't stay at the hotels. I am sure frequent Vegas visitors will pop in and give best locations by price.

Once you find out where you are going to stay, go to one of the travel sites to get a good package deal.

If just looking for a basic room at a good location for a reasonable price - The Tropicana has reasonable rates - Gotta go to Sapphires for Monday night football also

Default Vegas recommendations

I stayed at the Orleans and the Trop in early October. I'll never stay at the Tropicanna again, even though they comped everything. It is just so dingy now. I expect someone will buy them out, blow it up, and rebuild within the next few years. Now the Orleans was top-notch. I've been to Vegas 9 times now over the past 10 years, and I'd say the Orleans was about the nicest stay I've ever had. I bet $25-$50 per hand and BJ, and played just about everything else too at a little lower limits. They comped me 2 nights and gave me and a friend 2 meals while we were there. The rooms were like a small suite too. Anyways, I've stayed and played at a lot of Vegas casinos, and the Orleans is my recommendation. We also had a really good time playing at Planet Hollywood. They play good rock music in the casino which drowns out the slot machine noise that you hear in all the other places. Hope you have a great trip.

The Venetian is awesome but pricey. Mirage is nice. Blue Man Group was great. The Ghostbar at the palms is the bomb.

BB,i totally disagree with you about the culture in SH*TOWN(i.e.MTL) ,I have been to France many times and SH*TOWN as nothing to do with France. It is like comparing Alpo(dog food) with boeuf bourgillon.Their culture it is called Quebecois and let me tell you... YOU CAN live without it!!!.
Also don't forget that Vegas as become a ULTRA violent SH*THOLE just like Detroit. On a weekly basis you have home invasions and lethal muggings in suppose to be safe areas like summerlin or Desert shore.and shout outs on the STRIP in the casinos like MGM & CESEAR caught on camera no less..
however ROBBY since you are going only for a vacation( go after the NCAA BK is over)... for the money and location i always go for a short stay to the IMPERIAL PALACE.Rent a car while there and try Sheri's Ranch and/or the chicken ranch . have a good time!!
