Default Are there pros who only go by their gut feelings

I wonder if there are professional gamblers out there who simply rely on gut feeling. I read the Smart Money book and it mentioned some pro who hung out in a vegas sportsbook who only bet on gut feeling, he used no formulas. I wonder if it can be done long term with positive results?

I know of one guy who has only bet 3 games in his life, each for 50 thousand dollars. He won all 3. He used nothing but his average knowledge of keeping up with his local team. All bets were against his favorite team.

Instinct means a lot in gambling. Gut feeling is part of capping.

There are top level professional gamblers who use their gut but none that I can think of that don't augment their gut with more scientific methods.

Some guys gut feelings are stronger than others educated guesses. I think the perfect balance is somebody who trusts his instincts, but doesn't ignore the numbers in front of his face.

It is hard to keep perspective when all you have are your trends, stats, different situations, you need the right instincts to know how and when to apply all of that stuff.
