Default How Bad are Books hurt when an obvious Monday Night bet comes in???

Any one who turned on a TV prior to the game, with the delay even, Thought UNDER!!!!

I remember a Packers at Bears Monday night about 12 years ago. Pooring rain like tonight. I forgot what the packers were giving but the over under moved like 3 points from the morning Paper, (twelve years ago). Edgar Bennett scored a run out the clock TD late in the game to go over by a point. Two Big Bookies at the time said EVERY ONE had the Packers and the UNDER and most a wrap parley with it. One of the guys said he would of been wiped out, Hes like a Millionare today, but Could of been Broke twelve years ago!!!

Yea, the under was kind of obvious. However, I expected a 21 to 6 game, not 3 to 0. And not only because of the rain, but because Pittsburgh has one of the best defenses in the NFL.

It actually happens quite often. I was at an NFL game once in person and could not even see the field it was snowing so hard 3 minutes before the game was scheduled to start. I called in the total for the first quarter under.

What you see on tv right before a game, often does not efficiently make it into the line. But I find it is better to bet the first quarter, rather than an entire game when the weather can change.

I have played a couple of other games under when it was pouring rain and actually lost the bet. I think the condition of the field is the big factor, and it has to be a game where the team's had a strong passing game and now can not pass. If both teams were going to run the ball anyhow, rain does not make that much difference, unless the field is torn up like tonight.

The second half under in this Pittsburg game was one of the most obvious bets I have ever seen in the NFL so far. I almost bet Pittsburg for the second half but did not do it.

I really thought Pittsburg would make this spread, but the game going under was not much of a surprise.

Only about 10% of players play Overs/Unders so I dont think the books were crushed on that game last night.

I bet if it rains again in Pittsburgh, you won't see such a high total again. But it probably will still be a great bet. Out of the 10% who play totals, probably only 10% of them bother checking the weather and field conditions. The bookmakers will never put up totals of 20, even if the total should be less than this.

Even for the 2nd half, pinny put up 14.5 while every other book was around 17. And by then everyone should have known what the weather was.
