Default OT: Xmas shopping. Can it all be done online?

Does anyone do all their xmas shopping online? I went to BestBuy to get one of those $399 Sony laptops and the sales people just laughed at me. Apparently they were all gone a minute after they opened. So that was totally a wasted trip and time, time away from posting I might add .

Guys, I'm a novice when it comes to shopping on the net. Any advice for shopping online? Do they gift wrap it or do you deliver it to your house? Also, I have a Paypal account. Would that help or is just ************ ok? Gift ideas?(pressing my luck with that last one)

I like Amazon.com, they carry just about everything and usually have great prices. I use a CC to pay just about anytime I place an order online.

My only tip would be check out whatever you want at a few different stores online, if the prices are relatively the same check out the shipping charges. Sometimes Amazon has reduced shipping deals, if not other places are offering deals like "spend over 75$", free 3 day shipping etc. Just have to look around.

And yes everything will be delivered to your house, or any address so long as its not a PO box. Gift wrap is an option usually during the checkout process once you get to shipping.

DO I really seem like that much of a shut in??? I was bad in the early years of SBR. Wouldnt even let sunlight in my apt. Plus the foil looked cool on the windows in the dark.

OK, ive never bought anything from Amozon but will give them a try. Somehow I never learned how to gift wrap and seems a little late now.

Remember all the major stores out there have online stores. Circuit City, Best Buy, Wal Mart, etc.

If your shopping for computer components, try out Newegg.com and Zipzoomfly.com, they usually have free 2 day shipping.

Newegg.com is great for computer stuff, so is tigerdirect which I believe is their sister site.

Never ever buy parts for your PC from your computer company, unless they are proprietary like some components of Dell (ripoffs). Newegg will sell you things like RAM for 1/2 the cost some of these PC companies charge, and its the same stuff.

Hey crazyl, if you use newegg, go check out zipzoomfly. They are better on certain things, and offer that free 2 day shipping on most things.

Its been a few years since I bought anything of either site, but I am sure things are still the same.

I do almost all my shopping online. I hate fighting the hoards of savages and white trash that sweat over getting everything for someone before Xmas even if it is some piece of crap they will never use. Plus I fell for that scam before John. Those items that are really cheap requires you to camp outside the store these days with the rest of the savages to get such great deals.

Some websites will give you a further discount if you use Paypal. There was an article about it at Yahoo Finance today.

And how many times do you hear on the news that someone got trampled on Black Friday...

By far the best store out there. I have been a happy customer for many years.

Also check out www.fatwallet.com. Go to the " hot deals, forum"

I swear these people scour the net looking for deals from all of the major retailers. They have a very good search feature on the forum.
Before I buy anything I always check out that site. It has saved me a ton. Only thing that kinda sucks is that alot of the stuff involves rebates. I have always gotten them back, but sometimes it takes a while.

John, I'd love to either go shopping or to buy on-line, but Dozer is working us too hard these days and there's no time left to get that done. He had me on a double shift last Thursday and then got pissed when I took a few minutes out to eat my turkey sandwich and Cheetos stuffing.

(The Mrs probably does about 50% of our holiday shopping on-line.)
