I didn't study much for the GMAT and did just fine, but I do real well with standardized tests.

I think it really depends on what you want to do with your degree if it's worth it or not.

I got a 680 though I'm sure I could do better if I studied.

I didn't need a very good score to get into the University of Colorado. I've only taken a couple classes so far (all online) and I'm not sure if I will finish it or not.

I did it mainly to learn and not to improve my job prospects. If I wanted to use it to launch a better career I'd have applied to a better school and gone full time.

Real world business experience is far more important IMO and the degree is mostly only worth it if you go to a top school.

Study a little bit with the GMAT study guide and you will at least get in conditionally. If I did it with social anxiety, depression, sleep apnea, a wife, a job, working irregular hours, and a serious dislike for business class acumen, then I know you can do it.

Has anyone gone back for their MBA? I looked at the a few programs and it's not cheap. The GMAT scares the living hell out of me but I think I can do well IF I study.

mba is useless. they don't teach you anything, people go there to get connections and do networking.

you need job experience going in. still, mba classes aren't useful at all...those case studies are all bullshit...waste of time. the only use is probably you have something to say during the cocktail parties. good school means you get to meet future leaders from fortune 500...that is why people pay shit load of money to get into top 25.

Maybe, but the average starting salary and bonus out of a top 10 MBA program is about $200,000 a year.

you can't really look at the numbers. those people who get top salaries out of business school already has pretty nice jobs going into business school. if you're a nobody going into business school, you'll be a unemployed nobody coming out of business school. if you don't beleive me, spend 3 years and prove me wrong.

You can't get into a top school without a very solid work history. Some people choose to not go and continue working, others go.

Nevertheless, your salary can be expected to increase quit a bit afterwards.

i lived in the states before. my friends said all they do in business school was party and gossip....that is for the people at Ross. I also had friends at Anderson...said the same thing...they have social events every other day and they just network. those people who hit the books might end up as quants in i-banks, but hit the books is not really the norm there...the only exception i can think of is Sloan.

getting into a top program won't be easy. if you can get into a top program, then that means you already have the skills to be successful on your own. mba classes is pretty much a formality in that case. imo, mba is a watered down version of executive education.
