Is it money management? Chasing? Not handicapping properly?

Personally, i tried to much to play football. I clearly know the Pro game and college game, but i am unable to win when betting.

If i stuck to basketball, ( mainly nba ) i would be just fine. But id find myself trying to hard to beat the nfl and it turned out to be my downfall. I havnt had an account since then.

My downfall has always been deciding what my "best plays" are. Whenever I put more than 1 unit on something it always seems to loses, while my "weaker" 1 unit plays bank. Overall I can and have hit around 55% (I'm no robzilla 75%), but I screw up by betting some games harder than others.

Kinda specific but I seem to get killed betting halves in the NBA. If the total is 200 and I like the under and the 1st half is 103 then I bet that. If I like the over and it is 209 but the 1st half is 107 then I wait and hit the 2nd half over. I just can't being myself to beileve the some teams realy always will score more in one half than the other. **** the Nets, Suns, and Jazz especially

I rarely wager more than 1 unit. Alot of times My top rated picks swwm to win, yet i can't seem to bet more than one unit.

It could be a good thing but sucks when you go on a tear on you are very confident in your play. I'm sure it all evens out in the long run

Not having enough money. If I had more I could bump up the value of my unit. But I play very conservative on my bankroll. I do the same with poker, I have far more money than the limits I play at but my roll took a while to get to 5 figures and I don't want to give it away.

I play far too many games. Its the thrill of the hunt. And now I find myself betting NBA and college football, two things I don't follow at all, but I get caught up in reading what others are doing, and decide I want in. If I stayed with what I know (NFL, NHL, MLB) I'd be much better off.
And I suck at over-unders. They have greatly cut into whatever profit I'd be managing otherwise.

Not doing well on the "BIG" games, Super Bowl, BCS championship game, conference championships, World Series, etc. I do pretty well on the not so big games, but that makes it hard to poke my chest out even though the money is the same. I have the money management down and everything else. I also don't play enough favs with big lines, I usually take the dog and the dog gets the shit out of him, a la FSU and OKSt this past weekend.

mine is sitting around having a few drinks watching the game..when the results are in (and i have won) i have a bad habbit of transfering cash to the poker room and end up loosing a good chunk of it.Im sure its in my dna that i think bourbon makes me a great poker player..when in reality i stink

One of the things to watch out for, if you've been winning for a number of years, is NOT to adjust your systems if you hit a long losing streak. The tendency can be to get away from what has been working in search of better angles.

Most stupid mistake I made in gambling was a total brain fart. I would tease down 7 pt favorites to -0.5. The idea was that books gave me a free point, because there is no difference between -0.5 and +0.5 in football. A 6.5 pt two-teamer pays -120. I would then bet the opposing teams straight up at exchange rates (such as +305), with each bet covering the teaser amount. Pick up 20% here, 16% there. Free money. I was so pleased with this angle that I believed the free money was for the free point. (I think it was the attractiveness of this belief that created the blind spot).

The moment I realized my mistake was definitely among the more embarrassing in my life. Talk about hidden in plain sight.

I should only be betting NFL and NCAA hoops because those are the 2 I win at consistently every year. But I always venture into betting the NCAA football and NBA and that kicks my ass every year back down to a break even or losing player

Same thing here can hit close to 60% maybe 62% on small wager but as soon as double or triple up I can not hit shit!!!!!!!!!!!!2004 down ALOT going into bowls afraid to wage much hit something like first 10 out of 12 with .5 unit then bet rest at 2 units lost my ass & i know i bet way to many games but i like too!!!!!!!!1
