Default Tracking Bets: What information is MOST important?

Let's say you had the perfect log for previous or pending wagers. What would you want to see in reporting and how would you prioritize it?

Date, Time, Team, sport, odds, amount
something that automatically updated graded wagers would be nice.
there was a website i used to use, but it ended up being too much work. paper is easier.

no such thing as perfect log, would only remind me of how many losing bets i've made and send me into a deep depression.

What about a way to balance and double check all your accounts? -/+ by book? % by sport?

the easiest and the most efficient way for me to keep a log is just to look at pinny's graded wager sheet. it is seperated into past 24 hrs, 7 days, 4 weeks, and by month. they keep the record pretty far back. i can go back and take a look how i did when i open my account versus how i am doing now.

they just tally up my total amount wagered and how much i win/loss during the selected period. i think that is pretty much all i need for simple look at my performance.

i use excel or paper and pen for more advanced calculations.

it is sad that no other books offer simple wager history records like pinnacle...sad. btw, bodog's transaction record is atrocious...i have no clue what i betted a month ago...that is why i stopped using them after i got my bonus.

My only complaint is that they don't break it down by sport. May be asking too much, but it would certainly save a bit of time and effort.

I do everything the old fashioned way. I love writing and keeping meticulous notes and details of every bet I make. I have notebooks full of them, I do the same with stats but I've gotten a little more lazy now that everything is on the internet.

use excel. you can do more statistical analysis with cut and paste cells. save a lot of time when you're really serious. right now, i am okay with pinnacle's wager history

i'm kind of the same way Crazyl. what really pisses me off is when i have a heavy lean on something and put a mark by it, but then i don't play it and it hits. i assume everyone does that though. hind site is 20/20 i hear. i also don't keep stats as much cause its on the internet, just what i handicap out and my leans and picks, so i can see how much i'm up or down.

    Book, Sport.

Team, Spread, Odds, Wager, Result, Net.

Daily, Weekly, Monthly, YTD results per book, results per sport.

    All of my spreadsheets suck.
Trying to come up with something?

I make a new log sheet each month. At the end of each week, I make sure all the balances are proper at each book (the sheet has an entry for where you placed it, and keeps weekly results on win/loss at each book).

Just keep track of volume and ROI %.

I keep a excel spreadsheet with a pivot table that will show just about every situation that I want from past wagers.

I think the product has been mentioned here before ... but I think Wagerstation is good ... its a pretty heavy duty product for trakcking balances/ wagers etc... its costs money but I have gotten worth out of it ... gives me win loss record/percentages ... you can track all different types of wagers ... record against the spread ... money line totals etc...

Right but I'm referring to a second sheet like Justin7 mentioned, to check what the book is giving you. If you used 10 books in a week you want your figure at each and not just the overall +/- right? Check for misgrading?

Yes, there has been some excel's passed around and good feedback on pay-for programs.

The majority of people do not need any typer of bettracker and the ones that do keep records have their own shit.

Yes, it will have all of that.

This thread has some good ideas so I am bumping it. We are going to add a "notes" field.

It will be online and work more like Google Aps than excel. You can also export to excel.

    Any other ideas/requests?

MUST HAVE a slot of comments about your reasoning behind your bet. . . This way you can develop your strengths and weakness . . The reason could be a certain motivation, stats (specific), strange line, etc. . . THIS is very important. . .

Well, dont do a CP mistake. I had this perfect little note book on all my NBA wagers so far this season, dates, spreads, wins losses, o/u wagers, etc.Thursday night after recording 2 wins in the book, I forgot to put the book in the desk, I left it on the top of the desk in my office.

I have a pet Wolf named Kyo, and during the night he decided that little records book would make good chewing material, so basically I woke up to a metal spiral binder, and shreds of paper .

Whats sad, is if memory serves me right I was 59-43 so far this NBA season. So now Im going to have to go back and go thru all of Illusions NBA best bets to get everything on paper again.

Bottom line, keeps computer records and paper records, thats whats most important,JMO.

If you are flat betting - W/L

    If not, +/- $

In fact, +/- $ is the only thing that matters

We will have that and the ability to see bet type over that given period as well as at your different books in case you want to double check figures...see which book you are successful at and why.

It will have a blog with it so if you wanted to match your picks and writeups you can. There will also be a notepad on the tracker.

The idea is for it to serve as a Wagertracker for your personal accounting needs as well as a handicapper tracker for you to follow others. We are considering what information can be made private such as bet amounts.

Great. Also adding ability to track different wager types (sides, totals, halves, teasers, parlays, etc) ?

    ------------
Never mind. Already answered that. When is the release date?

Right now it's only doing sides that you can tag by type...but definitely will be able to follow combos.
