1. Agreed
2. Not True. When was the last terrorist attack? 9/11. The war may not look like it will end anytime soon but there hasn't been an attacks in 6+ years now.
3. Agreed. Economy sucks. Companies are sending all jobs overseas to turn a larger profit to make stockholders rich.
4. Never be able to stop this.
5. Agreed. BS lawsuits = higher malpractice insurance = unaffordable rates.

I have been to several countries in the far east. Life is great in America!

How about looking at the good things that America has that no other country in the world has. These posts make me laugh. If its so bad how come nobody leaves and people fight to get in. No or very few other countries have the luxuries and freedoms we have here. People who complain are whiny little girls. Bush sucks but at least we had a choice. The economy is on a downturn but it is cyclical and never goes up or down forever. My healthcare is great and I can choose from any doctor I want. The other complaints are still nothing compared to the rest of the world. Appreciate what you have because we are privileged.

Saying we are winning the war on terrorism because there have been no attacks on US soil since 9/11 is naive. It's not like there have been many terrorist attacks ever inside the US. This is war over the minds and direction of the hundreds of millions of young people in the middle east and we are losing terribly right now.

No bashing here, as i love america, however here is an expeience i had in Canada, then again in America, with 2 very different results.

We come out of Foxwoods one night ,me and a friend who works there, make a pit-stop at a VFW,he goes in for 5 mins in search of someone who owes him money, i stay in the car.

We leave, cop stops us 30 secs after we leave, standard questions, you been drinking ,no we hadnt been yadda yadda yadda, flashes his flashlight in the car sees a roach in ashtray, proceeds to check car and us, nothing else is found.

RESULT: I walk away, my buddy gets arrested, locked up all weekend, fined 2,500$,and they call Foxwoods, his employer, they make him take monthly piss tests or be let go.

All cause of a roach, not the smatest thing leaving it there(agread). Harsh for the offense? i think.

Fast forward couple years later walking down the street in montreal to see a Tethro Tull concert, smoking a joint, cop sees us ,approaches us ,says hey boys what you guys passing around, caught red handed.

RESULT; he tells us to put it out.

just something to think about. nothing serious.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the story for its purpose of contrast, but I can't help but shake my head that after what happened to your friend for the ashtray roach you guys are foolish enough to walk down the street toking again.

Do you have any numbers to back up the number of people who leave compared to come into the US? The estimate of legal imigration is 1,000,000 per year. Illegals is 700,000. The estimate for native born emigration is 27,000 people yearly.

Everyone knows that Colombia has no problems. Maybe you should worry about them instead of spending time knocking the US.

So that makes it all ok. I didn't realize this post was about you and your good healthcare situation. Too bad there are millions in this rich land who have it far worse in this area than most people in most non-third world countries.

Ok, you're on. Please feel free to name these 'most third world countries' who have better health care than the US. Please add your experiences with doctors and hospitals in these countries.

If you get a job almost every employer will provide healthcare for you and your family. There are options in most cases where you can choose any doctor you want.

I think it's safe to say there's a hell of a lot more people trying to get into the U.S. than leaving.

More people have left the United States in the past 7 years than in previous 224 years combined.

The war on deugs is lost. The war on internet gambling is pointless. The constitution has been thrown out the window. The President sent us into war without the backing odf the congress which is illega. The war on terror is a joke. The country is bankrupt because of the war. The Govt is destroying the dollar and hence people's life savings (Hello 78m baby boomers about to retire on those dollars!). People are so divided it's feels like the run-up to a civil war.

Vote Ron Paul in '08!

America doesn't suck.

America is not nearly as great as it thinks it is - so there is a reaction to want to take it down a peg. But it's still a good country.

Many of the problems that have been pointed out are accurate. I could point out a lot more negative things about America that haven't been mentioned too. Things are not going in a good direction in many important, very serious areas. I hope America can get turned around.

But there is so much good that we're ignoring here. On balance America is a good country with occasional flashes out greatness.

History shows that no nation retains it's dominance forever. America's global role is retreating from it's golden period, back to the pack.

As Mudcat said, it's not a bad country, but it's nowhere near as good as certain people here would have you believe.

I can name 6-7 countries I'd live in before America, at least.

Why don't we spend time bashing other countries? The answer is that the world is jealous. Why else would people in other countries spend all of their time worrying about the problems in America. I don't spend 2 seconds on a normal day worrying about any other countries. I'm sure you people will have other explanations and deny this but we all know its the truth.

I ceratinly don't think the US sucks. I do think we completely lost track of the big picture and sacrificed liberty for a temporary feeling of security and that's a dangerous line to cross.

In general i think the U.S needs an overhaul and maybe try to get back to it's roots that made it successful in the first place. minimalist goverment. non foreign intervention. actual liberty and freedom. seperation of church and state. etc

Because we're in their country's mettling in their business which in turns makes the US their business.

And also because the US has far too much military firepower that they insist on using when it's not necessary.

Your right about one thing, guns to easy to access. I just reach down on my right hip, and there is my Kahr P.40. Aint it great living in a free armed society! Remember an armed society is a polite society.

"God, Guns and Guts Made America Free" I think I will stay here, regardless of how some of the other things are going.

You can never have to much firepower! If you have ever been in a firefight, you wouldnt think like that. More is always better when it comes to weapons, always.

Probably because other countries don't CONSTANTLY brag about how great they are to the rest of the world.

I think America is a good country, I have American friends and family members and have met some absolutely fabulous people that happen to be American.

The masses of people wanting to get in aren't from first world countries, they tend to be from poor countries and the illusion of opportunity in America looks appealing, better than the enviroment they currently live in.

I don't see a wall or fence being built on the Canadian border trying to stop the flood of illegal Canadians to the US, why? Because only a few thousand Canadians a year actually move to the US. I believe the numbers of immigrants from EU countries is low as well.

As for the non foreign involvement in America?
I see the irony!

American people = good (for the most part)
American government = bad

Walmart, McDonalds and United Rentals are all over providing that for their employees. I don't want to get into a let's bash America as I have travelled quite a bit there. The distance between those who "have" or those who don't is large. I also feel the amount of working poor is extremely large for one of the most power nations on this planet. Unfortunately it seems ignorance is not bliss, it's abundant no matter where you come from.

America has its problems, but no country is perfect. I'd certainly rather be here than a bunch of other places. One thing I think looks silly though are the people who exclaim "AMERICA IS THE BEST EVER!!!", but have never actually set foot in another country.

There is also no shame in admitting our faults and how we are behind other countries in some ways. Shouldn't need to relocate or consider ourselves unpatriotic because we want out country to improve and perhaps fall under some better leadership.

Agree, but if you don't like it

1. Try to fix it yourself or do something about it.
2. Vote your feelings
3. Call or write you elected representatives
4. Lobby against it
5. Protest against it

6. Please LEAVE and shut the door on the way out.

I didn't say a single thing regarding people come in versus leaving. The vast majority come to work as the economic opportunity in the US is greater than just about anywhere in the world.

I am US citizen, I pay US income tax, as such I will freely criticize the US gov't as I see fit. No where did I say the US sucks, though the present gov't (president and congress (both parties) most certainly are not helping our country.

On a basic level my health care experience is much better here. It's much cheaper and just as good.

Obviously any major cutting edge procedure you are better off going to the US. But after going through insurance hell for 5 years at 22 years old after having a major health issue in the US, I have no desire to repeat that experience. My insurance here costs 1/25th per year what it did there.
