I do this for a living, but don't consider myself to be a pro. I make enough money to survive.

Anyone who gambles for a living is always a loser in the long haul ....Dont you notice gamblers often boost how much they win but say nothing when they lose...If you gamble for a living you will always come out a loser...just my opinion..

If you do this for a living but lose, then you must have some other source of income to buy the booze and the groceries. Which means, you DON'T do it for a living.

Betting for a living is huge pressure especially if you have no other income coming in. A lot of guys that do this do have money coming in from another source.

Yeah, this is only a supplemental income or loss depending on the month for me. I think if I did this as my only source of income, I'd starve. Plus, I got a family to feed as well. Well put, JJ. Too much pressure to make it work if this was my sole source of income....

I know a bunch of people that make their living betting sports. Its just like the guy who makes his living in the stock market. If you know what you're doing, you're smart, and you have the right information, you can make a ton of money betting sports.

The guys that you're referring to are the scamdicappers of the industry. The house doesn't have the edge betting sports that many people think it does, especially compared to Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, etc. If you are smart with your money and even hit just 55%, you'll make a lot of money over the long haul.

Don't let Coach fool you, he's a pro. You should see what he has to claim on his income taxes.

You need to much of a bankroll to be a pro player and need lots of inside contacts which is hard

Your best bet is to scalp and middle but then your not a gambler but a businessman

Nah, I mean that scalping stuff would bore me to tears. I'd rather get a job as asst manager at McDonalds. I want to be like Billy Walters and get banned from a book for being sharp. I'm practicing now.

Any Pro Gamblers Here?

I am in that category.

I also make money scalping and middling.

Anyone who gambles for a living is always a loser in the long haul

That doesn't make sense to me but it's definitely not true in my case.

Betting for a living is huge pressure especially if you have no other income coming in.

Not true for me at all. I had way more stress and general crap to deal with in the 20 or so years I spent working in warehouses and offices.

You need to much of a bankroll to be a pro player and need lots of inside contacts which is hard

I don't have or need any inside contacts.

I didn't start out with a particularly big bankroll (in fact I started out with just the credit I had available on a few credit cards.)

he hits up Meadowlands and Yonkers.

Ocasionally he will go to an OTB. But that is only when he is down on his luck.

Do you always wager a certain percentage of your bankroll consistantly? Or do you bet more based on your emotions on how a game will turn out?
