[quote=JRS21386;1023447]Do you always wager a certain percentage of your bankroll consistantly? Or do you bet more based on your emotions on how a game will turn out?[/QUOTE

First, I'm semi-retired from sportsbetting and gambling in general .........what I'm saying is that with the money I've made gambling over the years as a professional has been invested in other venues to the point that for the last few years I'm making more income off of those ventures than gambling perse..........because they are doing very well and I'm not putting the effort into gambling as in many years past.

To answer your question.........if your familar with the Kelly Criterion, that is somewhat what I base my wagers on..........it would be a long post here for me to get into this in detail.

To simplify greatly, my straight wagers never deviate over 3x my set "normal" wager for any given year. Let's say for expample that whatever my normal wager for a straight game, very seldom would I wager up to 3x that amount.....and that being the ABSOLUTE MOST........and only on rare occassions.

Having said that, when one has a large bankroll, there are better profits to be made by middling and scalping(and with less risk) then making ordinary straight wagers.........at least for me for two reasons...........1. When I bet a large amount of games, I'm not good enough to consistanly hit over 54%(guessing my lifetime percentage of winners over thousands and thousands is about 54%)..... and .......2. My strong plays, although strong, come few and far between, even though they have hit over 55%. For me PERSONALLY, scalping/middling I feel much more confortable with, even though I've made some very decent coin overall by just handicapping and betting games over the years.

Myth #1 of sports betting: you need a big bankroll to be successful.

You can make a tiny bankroll into a decent sized amount in a rather short period.

You are correct, durito. You don't need a large bankroll to go pro, I didn't.

    They should do well.

They have been good to me gambling wise as they are terribly under rated and overlooked.

Plus they are Toronto's second team, the Leafs send alot of cash to Nashville under the new NHL revenue sharing system. The Preds should be grateful to the Maple Leafs, their biggest financial supporters.

Learn somethin new everyday... I didn't know this.. I do know there were talks of moving them OUT of Nashville, have you heard anything about that?

NHL teams in small hockey markets ALWAYS threaten to leave in order to get something they want, it is a bargaining tool used to obtain a new arena, a better deal tax wise from the city etc.

Under the new revenue sharing plan the rich NHL teams (Toronto, New York, Detroit, Montreal, etc.) send something along the line of an "equalization payment" to the NHL's poorer teams to make the league more competitive and on an even level.

Wow i didn't know that... I live in Southern Alabama so the closest hockey team to me is 6 hours away in Atlanta.. They have really nice facilities up in Nashville i would hate to see them leave.. But thats good to know that other teams help out..

Ok but my question to everyone above, what seperates the guy who gamble for a living, and guys like Ivey, Hanson, and anyone else who has indorsements/ownership? Cause they would have a stream of income that they no longer need to rely on gambling to pay bills ect. Im sir fishhead can talk about this cause you can still be a full time gambler and have 40 hr week job. So than what our u considered than if thats the case?
