That is basically where pinny posts an opinionated line. If you search Pinny lean I'm sure you'll come up with a lot of threads discussing it.

Imagine if the rest of the world had Bears -3 -110, Vikings +3 -110. Now imagine if Pinnacle has Bears -3 +108, Vikings +3 -116. Pinnacle would be leaning on the Vikings. When a side is more expensive to play at Pinnacle with a vig of 4 or 5 cents then it is to play at the 10 cent vig books they are leaning.

I believe this to be incorrect. Pinny doesn't really "opinionate" - they simply protect against common teasers in football.

And what Wheell describes is a Pinny bettors' lean.

You think they run the line like that for teasers? I would find that hard to believe but maybe you're right. I have always treated the pinny lean exactly as described in the Vikings example. Either way, I would say it is strong as shit.

Any research done on a possible Matchbook Lean system. They don't take teasers, of course, so their lines should be unaffected by this factor.

I would think that you could say there was a matchbook lean, it's an exchange though so it's different. If you notice however when pinnacle will run a line +6.5-115 and everyone else is running +6-110 that Matchbook will often have the same +6.5 w/ juice.

Matt- Two different things. Pinny doesn't hang and 8 or 8.5 to protect against teasers. They just move the juice.

They do have a lean which means they are looking for action on one side on other bets.

    could you elaborate on this?

I see pinny leans change to the other team and then back and so on in a short time period. It all depends on when you look at the lines. 5 minutes later and you see a lean to a different team. It's very confusing to try to figure it out. I may be missing something about this idea.

They simply want the line to start moving, so they can bet on the other side!

Default Pinny leans because someone made a big bet

Someone makes a big bet, and Penny is going to adjust the line. They are trying to balance their action. I have bet penny many times just to hedge a bet, and Penny adjusts their line. I actually gave up EV to lower my variance, and there is no way a manager trying to keep the lines as correct as possible should have adjusted these lines.

But they are trying to balance action. That's how a sportsbook makes money. They need to attract oney to balance out what I just did.

If there is a lean and it is because of sharp action, then that is something to note but since they pulled out of the U.S. we can't be so sure their leans are sharp any more. There bets are now coming from overseas. Not to say there are not sharps overseas, but you would have to believe not all the sharps moved out of the U.S. so they could keep betting at Pinny.

I bet Olympic just an hour ago. They had a line that was off. It wasn't off because Olympic had a different opinion on the game; it was off because Olympic wanted to attract action onto one of the sides of the game. As soon as I made my bet, the line at Olympic went back to what everyone else was offering.

THe person who originally made the bet that caused Olympic to change it may have been a dope. I don't know. His opinion that caused him to bet at Olympic did not seem smart to me. But it must have been a big bet to move the line; so I made sure mine was big too. Olympic had the best line for me to bet my opinion. We will find out on Saturday who was right.

Olympic doesn't know why this dude made his bet, but they are happy now that both sides are balanced.

You want to move the line at Pinnacle, go bet $3K on an NFL side. That line is going to move if the management agrees with your pick or not. Same goes for any sportsbook, accept right before the superbowl when the line is so sharp and solid almost noone is going to make it budge. Especially when the lines just come out, management is quick to move them after receiving some action, and it doesn't take much. ALmost all the action right after a line comes out is sharp.

Pinny doesn't always want balanced action either. Depends on the sport and individual game.
