Default question to ganchrow about 3 team parlay odds

good job on the true parlay calculator, saved me some time figuring out the true parlay odds. anyways, i just need to verify something. it seems to me that if a book's 3 team parlay odds (at -110 for all 3 events), it is actually a little better than the true parlay odds.

    here are the numbers:
with -110 odds for all events

    true parlay odds:

    2-team: +264
    3-team: +596
    4-team: +1228
    5-team: +2436

    book's parlay odds:
with -110 odds for all events

    book odds:

    2-team: +260
    3-team: +600
    4-team: +1000
    5-team: +2000

it seems that 3 teamer is the one and only odd that is better than the true parlay odds. is that why pros tend to do 3-teamers?

That's a throwback rounded to 6-1. The difference is minimal.

    book odds:

    2-team: +260
    3-team: +600
    4-team: +1000
    5-team: +2000

These vary, some places will pay +280 on 3 teams, or above +600 on three teams.

CRIS books pay the mathematical odds on all parlays.

Just as Doug said, the difference is minimal. The difference between receiving true parlay odds on a 3-teamer and 6:1 is the difference between betting at -110 and at -109.54.

Similarly, the difference between receiving true parlay odds on a 2-teamer and 13:5 is the difference between betting at -110 and at -111.44.

I'm unaware of this particular dynamic.
