Actually, this is a pretty good list: The Rolling Stone 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Wow, can't believe that a Steve Earle album (Guitar Town) actually made the list. Cool, and a damn good album that is. Clapton's 461 Ocean Boulevard should be higher, much higher, than #409. Speaking of Clapton, the classic Derek and the Dominos Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs is another must-have for the collection.

Can't go wrong with any Pink Floyd, boss.

It's definitely outside the realm of classic rock, but I've yet to introduce a person to Flogging Molly's "Drunken Lullabies" that hasn't become a fan....and that list includes Mom & Grandma as well as college buddies. Diversify & give it a shot.

    Van Morrison: Astral Weeks.

When you first hear it, you won't like it and wonder how anyone can possibley find it good. Listen to it again, you'll like it a bit more and you'll think it is not bad. Listen to it a third time and it be one of the top albums in your collection.

Led baby, Led Zep, thats all you need, II or Physical Graffiti, or as Ganch said any of them.

Actually, I almost forgot that I've probably logged more miles behind the wheel to the Bodeans' "Joe Dirt Car" (live double CD) than any other album. Also, it doesn't require as much of a journey outside classic rock as Flogging Molly.

    LA Woman - The Doors

I wanna tell you 'bout Texas Radio and the Big Beat
Comes out of the Virginia swamps
Cool and slow with plenty of precision
With a back beat narrow and hard to master

Some call it heavenly in it's brilliance
Others, mean and rueful of the Western dream
I love the friends I have gathered together on this thin raft
We have constructed pyramids in honor of our escaping
This is the land where the Pharaoh died

The Negroes in the forest brightly feathered
They are saying, "Forget the night.
Live with us in forests of azure.
Out here on the perimeter there are no stars
Out here we is stoned - immaculate.

I can't believe there is a Ganch post that I can read, understand and agree with. I'd add Meatloaf Bat out of hell, and I like the Ramones by the Ramones. I have also done travelling with Everlast Whitey Ford sings the blues and Evanesense (I like it but it may be a bit to disturbed/down for most).

JOhn, find what you like and take a lot ot it.

So you know what Mr. Mojo Rising means.

Every song on LA Woman is great. Riders on the Storm turned out to be JM's goodbye.

It sounds off the wall blue collar redneck but the all time biggest seller that spans every generation from your grandpa's to your kid's kids that everybody has come in contact with is Johnny Horton's greatest hits.We had a war ship come into port as a recruiting tool recently and they played that album over the loudspeaker from the ship.Music to drink beer by.

Try something new ( but old). Jelly Roll Morton's Red Hot Peppers from 1926-28. Or Louis Armstrong's Hot 5's or Hot 7's from the same period. Or, you can't go wrong with Bix.
Trying to tout the music I love best.

Theres' a great website for listening to all the good old good stuff if anyone's interested.
