    I knew that special treatment for Big Ben was coming; a conditional suspension;

    not sure how you think a 6 game with a chance for it being reduced to 4 being special treatment

    4 games is a quarter of a season, that's hefty.

    think of it as a 40 game suspension in baseball or 20 games in the NBA.

    Big Ben is being made an example of 6 games and no conviction while Vick gets 2 games after doing time and help with a team signing him. Wake the f**k up. 2 games max and alcohol counseling should have been the call.

    The way I understand it the conditional part probably has to do with counseling.

    Marshall got his suspension reduced to a single game the other year

    The point is this. Vick lost two seasons plus two games. Big Ben loses 4-6 games. That is a minimum of two home games, one to open the year against Atlanta, and one against Baltimore, plus games at Tennessee and Tampa Bay. So Big Ben's suspension could mean that Pitt opens up 1-3 instead of 3-1 or 4-0. He gets a huge break in that if he is reinstated after week 4, the next week for the Steelers is their "bye" week so he will get an extra week of practice.
