Default Why does the homepage proudly boast that there are NO SPORTSBOOK ads?

Not a frequent visitor (not a ghost either, I have never registered here before), but I was curious as to why that is on the Homepage just above and below an ad for a poker room that has a sportsbook.

Then one goes to the forum and at the top are...

I have been around a while and I recall when SBR did not accept paying ads, preferring to run off of sheets. I thought that was a better way of doing business, because that made you have a vested interest in ensuring the solvency of the book.

    Anyway, Happy New Year!

"No Sportsbook Ads" means exactly that. Its not complicated, it means there are no sportsbook ads such as banner ads.

Then what is the click-tracker for? Regardless if they get paid or not, they are still ads. Just my opinion.

Call them what you want, bottom line if you deposit money at any of those 12 sportsbook at the top of the page.YOU WILL BE PAID, AND RATHER QUICCKLY ALSO!!

It is more than other sportsbook review sites can say about the banners flying high across their webpage

The SportsbookReview.Com site does not have ads.

The forum and lines which are sperate websites do. We say so in the TOS that SBRLines accepts sportsbook ads and I think we should include the forum in there as well.

I have to agree with avatar and wmublows. I'm looking directly at some sportsbook banner ads right now. I like SBR in general and I don't begrudge them having banner ads but I don't get the purpose of that claim.

At best it is something that can only be justified with some serious spin (i.e. - we meant that there are no banner ads in the places where there are no banner ads but we weren't counting the places where there are banner ads.) (I was typing this before I saw John's most recent post and I see that I was kind of on the money here.)

To be honest, it gives a bit of an appearance of shadiness, like SBR is trying to sneak one by people.

IMHO it's okay for SBR to have these banner ads so why not just keep it real?

You guys dont get it or what? The main site sportsbookreview.com dont have sportsbook ads, but the forum does. How hard is that to understand? Yes they are linked together, but the main site does not have them. Plus the forum has its own URL and is its own website. So you can say there is a bit of a spin on that, but it is what it is.

All top books to, no "rookie type" books up there. So posters and lurkers of this forum can feel safe to sign up with them.

We can take it down.. wouldnt bother me any.

We wanted something that says we are different than those places with all the flashy banners.

But then we added the Lines and the Forum which depend on those ads. Sure, take it down.

The banners on the forum arent flashy either. Clean, professional and to the point. Not sloppy looking like others Ive seen.

Don't take it down, John. The forum and the lines are both added value products that are seperate entities from the main site. Your claim is perfectly appropriate. The service you provide is too good to let people label you as "on the take". As long as you continue to advertise only the best books in the forum then you are not only semanticly but also ethically sound.

I couldn't have said it better myself. There's nothing wrong with making that claim on the main site.

isetcap, you went way overboard with that statement. I guess now anyone in the offshore world who has a different URLs for the main page and forums can now claim they don't take ad money from sportsbooks? LOL!

    Mudcat is dead on here.

Our competitors have painfully argued that the No Ads statement gave us an unfair advantage. But our "advantage" had nothing to to do with any two words.

One nice thing about this forum is we get a lot of free advice. So down it goes. Now we have a yearly counter in its place. I like it.

i think the way it is set up is appropriate

most important thing is to report where players are safest and only have those banners and not to force the banners down your throat
