The new book bets,drugs and rock and roll. The guy who wrote it(steve budin) former owner of sdb global(now called sbg global) was one of the guys indicted in 1998 with you. He says he paid a fine and left the business. You got jail time. Was it because you took it to trial? Do you know Steve budin? Ihave a friend who knows him and I told my buddy his old shop is a scam shop and Steve now runs a scamdicapper service..He thinks his friend is a stand up guy..LOL...

I read the first chapter of his book. Frankly, the guy needs to check a lot of his facts.

As I recall, it was his father who plead guilty and the charges against Steve were dropped. I never heard of charges being dropped and having to pay a fine. But I will check into it. I remember his father having to pay a $750,000 fine.

What's also funny is he claims that nobody was booking on the internet and he was about to dominate it. He actually calls WSEX a telephone book turned internet book. WSEX was and has always primarily been an internet book. It had essentially the same web site and engine it still takes bets on today since 1996. In the book he makes it sound like the only internet betting going on at the time was primitive email wagering.

I know at the time that SDB's only presence on the web was a single page web site with an 800 number. It had no lines, not even stale morning updates.

I was in the cell with Steve and Dave Budin the day I was processed. They said, "Internet? We have never taken an internet bet in our life." Which was true at the time. That's the only time I spoke with them.

Until this book, I had nothing bad to say about them. They closed, they paid every player every penny. They were upset that they had to lay off 300 people when they closed. That's how many people they said worked for them in CR.

The book makes it sound like the charges were only about internet wagering. If they had taken the opportunity to stand up and fight the charges instead of rolling over for the Feds, they would have found out the cases were as much about telephone betting as they were about internet betting.

What's also troubling about the book is they speak down about agents and unsavory characters getting in the business. I am fairly certain their original criminal complaint contained an overt act of an FBI agent picking up his winnings in an office at 82 Wall St. So if he wants to blame agents operating on US soil, he needs to look in the mirror.

I'm sure had I plead guilty, I cowwuld have got away with probation as well. Unfortunately, the system punishes people for exercising their rights to a trial.

Steve's Dad was a street bookie..so he's full of shit acting like he didn't have agents. Looks like he want to make a movie and had to fabricate a few things..it happens. Thanks for your take..always enjoy your posts.
